Point Spread Pick
Jacksonville State Win +3.0(-105)

The Kennesaw State Owls head south to take on the Jacksonville State Gamecocks in southeastern Alabama in a key Conference USA game. Both of these teams sit atop the Conference USA standings at 5-0 in the league, and it could be a potential conference championship game preview. Kennesaw State has won seven in a row since losing its first two games against Wake Forest and Indiana, while going 4-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in the previous six outings. It narrowly escaped disaster last week at New Mexico State, falling 24-21 as a 12-point favorite, and it pushed at most shops with a 33-20 win against UTEP prior to that.

The Gamecocks topped UTEP on the road last week, winning 30-27, and it has won four in a row since a a 42-25 setback against the best team in the Sun Belt Conference, Southern Miss, back on Sept. 27. Jacksonville State has covered two of the past three games, too. The offense has been very good, scoring 24 or more points in eight in a row, but the defense has yielded at least 21 points in five in a row, and seven of the past eight games. The Over is 4-1 in the past five games, and 6-2 in the previous eight outings. However, the Under is 6-1 in the past seven for Kennesaw State, so the total trends are all over the board. The better play is backing Jax State at home as a ‘dog. The Gamecocks are 3-0 SU at home, and 2-0 ATS in two games against FBS opponents.

Jacksonville State +3 (-105) at time of publishing. Playable to +2.5.
