Virginia Tech vs Florida State Pickswise Expert Predictions

Point Spread Pick
Virginia Tech +14.0(-110)

Things have not gone to plan this season for either the Virginia Tech Hokies or the Florida State Seminoles. As the season winds down to an end, these two teams will face off at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida. Virginia Tech has a record of 3-6 and 2-3 in the ACC. The Hokies lost their last game against Louisville 28-16. Quarterback Kyron Drones struggled, completing less than 50% of his passes for only 76 yards. Despite Drones’ struggles, Virginia Tech managed to gain a 16-7 lead before Louisville scored 21 unanswered points to close out the game. Virginia Tech got to have a bye this last weekend to rest their players. Florida State has a record of 4-5 but only a 1-5 record in ACC games. The Seminoles have lost four of their last five games, with their last loss coming against Clemson 24-10. Quarterback Tommy Castellanos threw for 250 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in the loss.

This could be the last home game for Mike Norvell as head coach of Florida State. After finishing their 2023 season 13-0, Florida State has posted a combined record of 6-16 under Norvell. Florida State has looked undisciplined, and they will often hurt themselves with self-inflicted mistakes and turnovers. Some mistakes include receiver Randy Pittman Jr. dropping a fourth down pass, poorly missed field goals, and a fumble on the goal line. The only reason I believe this spread is so high is because of how much better Florida State has been at home this season. They have a home record of 4-2 and are averaging 44.8 points per game when playing at home. Virginia Tech has been a tough team this season. They have gone 3-3 since firing their former head coach Brent Pry. They have had good wins against NC State and California. They also gave a scare against 16th-ranked Louisville last week with the early lead. Drones have been inconsistent, but he can become a big threat when he gets out of the pocket and runs. Florida State hasn’t done enough this season to convince me to take them by this many points, especially against a Virginia Tech team that has held their own in a tough ACC.

Virginia Tech +14 is available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
