2020 NHL Stanley Cup Odds: Three Best Bets To Place
Is anybody ready for some hockey? The NHL has officially declared the 2019-20 regular season over but announced there will be a 24 team playoff hunt for the Stanley Cup. With now 24 teams officially battling for the Cup, there are tons of odds to breakdown to find the top pick, the best value, and longshot. Before diving into our Stanley Cup Championship picks, make sure to check out our NHL first-round series winners predictions! Now let’s dive into three Stanley Cup Predictions you must consider before playing any future wagers.
Top Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning +700
The Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the hottest teams in the league for the past years, but have yet to deliver. However, this could finally be the year they lift the Stanley Cup for the first time since the 2003-2004 season. Tampa Bay holds the best offense in the NHL and should be on display throughout the new playoff format in 2020. They also hold one of the most impressive goaltenders in the league with Andrei Vasilevskiy. As a whole, this Tampa Bay defense is only allowing 2.64 goals per game which are 7th in the league. They have held the top spot of the Eastern Conference for the whole season and can take care of the top dogs below them as well. This includes Tampa Bay beating Boston three times in 2020 and winning the last 19 of 26 meetings with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Even when Tampa Bay has an off day, they bounce back with three to four straight consistent wins. There’s a reason why they hold an impressive 21-11-4 road record. With the possibility of Tampa Bay playing in a neutral site for the length of the playoffs, I’m loving the fact they can win anywhere. It’s time for Tampa Bay to finally claim their glory.
Best Value: Dallas Stars +1500
In most cases, winning the Stanley Cup requires having a high profiled offense and defense just like the Tampa Bay Lightning have, but what about getting solid odds on one of the best defenses in the playoffs? Meet the Dallas Stars who are ranked second in the league with allowing 2.39 goals per game. Only Boston is above them with allowing 2.26 goals per game. The unfortunate part about the Dallas Stars is that they come into this series with having the worst offense. Dallas should be able to get past one of the eight teams playing in the first round as nearly all of them besides Arizona have a subpar defense. Dallas Should be able to score and sneak around in the playoffs before they meet a top dog in the Blues or Avalanche. With these current odds, I’m rolling with the defense and will gamble with how far the Stars can hold on the backline.
Longshot: Calgary Flames +3500
Everyone loves a longshot as I have a great one for you. The Calgary Flames are getting extremely overlooked here. Calgary has been one of the best road teams in the league with an impressive record of 20-17-3. Only five other teams in the playoffs hold twenty road wins or more. With COVID-19 playing a huge part in the new NHL playoff format, most series will be played at a neutral site. Advantage Flames. Also, keep in mind the Flames also have one of the best one-two punches behind the net. Goalies David Rittich and Cam Talbot can easily change the tide for the Flames. I love the Flames as a longshot and even one of my favorite first-round series winners too.Last updated: Wed 10th June 2020
