3:34 pm Belmont Park (Race 6) – Finest Work 7/2 (2-star play)
Race 6 at Belmont Park is a $85,000 Allowance Optional Claiming contest for the female division over seven furlongs on the turf and this can go to the filly in stall one, Finest Work. Gary Weaver’s daughter of Outwork has finished in the frame in five of her seven starts to date and if she can replicate her Allowance win over course and distance last time out then she could prove tough to beat.
4:08 pm Belmont Park (Race 7) – Direct Order 6/1 (1-star play)
A field of eight are set to go to post for this $42,000 Claiming event over a mile and a sixteenth on the dirt and a chance is taken on the horse drawn on the outside, Direct Order, who is an inconsistent sort but has won at this course on multiple occasions. He has also won in this grade on more than one occasion so if everything falls right for him he can be in the shake up at the finish.
4:40 pm Belmont Park (Race 8) – Thrill Of It 4/1 (1-star play)
The three-year-old colt Thrill Of It is getting better as he gains experience and everything looks set for a big display from him in this $80,000 Allowance which is the penultimate race on the card. This step up in trip should suit as he’s been lacking a bit of pace over shorter distances and he gets in off a low weight with the jockey’s allowance so it would not surprise should he put up a bold showing.
5:12 pm Belmont Park (Race 9) – Frosted Oats 5/1 (1-star play)
William Mott’s Frosted Oats has yet to win a maiden but with recent form figures of 322 it is only a matter of time before she does and this can be that time. This is a $90,000 Maiden Special Weight so there are some nice types lining up but this Chestnut filly has gone close in two similar events here the last twice and she can make it third time lucky in the finale.
