NFL Draft 2020: Which Linebacker will get drafted first and second?
Pickswise betting pick for which Linebacker will get drafted first and second, plus a look at where you can bet on where Linebackers will get picked first.
The 2020 NFL Draft is hours away, and a few NFL teams are preparing for the upcoming season, looking for a new leader on the defensive side of the ball. That same leader is one of the most critical positions in football history. The linebacker position has one of the hardest set of duties compared to most other positions in the league. Especially middle linebackers, they are the glue of the defense and often call out the plays and audible if needed. Linebackers need to be quick enough during coverage to catch receivers, but also strong enough to bring down a running back such as Derrick Henry going full speed. The foundation of defense is built around the linebackers. Are there a couple of linebackers in the upcoming draft that possess those traits? Let’s take a look at two linebackers and why they will get drafted as the first and second linebackers in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Isaiah Simmons, Clemson
This Clemson star has all the talents to be the first Linebacker drafted, and there is no argument against it. Isaiah Simmons is the type of talent that could even force a team in dire need of another position to draft him still as he is simply one of those incoming college stars who has it all. During the Tigers championship run, Simmons showed he could lead a championship style defense totaling 102 tackles (with 16 for loss), eight sacks, three interceptions, and nine pass breakups during his Junior season. He earned the Butkus Award as the nation’s top Linebacker and will be entering the draft as the best Linebacker. This man can change and lead any defense in the league, and it shows in multiple mock drafts where he is always going inside the top five.
Betting Pick: Isaiah Simmons Draft Position – Under 7.5 at -121
Kenneth Murray, Oklahoma
Behind Simmons, there is a solid group of linebackers with the potential to be the second Linebacker drafted. However, after a historic run with Oklahoma, Kenneth Murray will be the second Linebacker picked in the 2020 NFL draft. It did not take long for Murray to prove he was one of the best linebackers in the Big 12 as he was a Freshman All-American and Co-Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year in his first year with Oklahoma. He finished the season with 87 tackles, 7.5 of those for loss, and one sack. He improved in his sophomore year and was ranked third in the NCAA with 155 total tackles (with 12.5 for loss) and four sacks. In his final year with the Sooners, he had 17 tackles for loss and four sacks as he proved, even more, that he can be a threat in the backfield. If any team is looking for someone to make a game-changing play, Murray has the capability of doing just that.
We have Kenneth Murray going under 21.5 as an official play for our NFL Draft picks.
