NFL Week 3 opening lines
Week 3 kicks off with the Miami Dolphins traveling to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday Night Football. The Jaguars beat the Colts at home in their season opener and ran the Titans close in Week 2. Did they not get the memo to tank for Trevor?
This week’s slate has some great games to look forward to. Deshaun Watson takes on Ben Roethlisberger after facing the Chiefs and Ravens back-to-back. The 2-0 Los Angeles Rams go on the road to New York to face the 2-0 Buffalo Bills. Two teams coming off thrilling endings in Week 2 square off with the Seattle Seahawks hosting the Dallas Cowboys. Which team will get their first win of 2020, the 0-2 Cincinnati Bengals or the 0-2 Philadelphia Eagles? Joe Burrow looked good in defeat on Thursday Night Football, but can he get his first win on the road at The Linc?
Sunday Night Football should be another thriller as the red-hot Green Bay Packers travel to the Superdome to face the New Orleans Saints.
The week finishes off with a Super Bowl-like match up on Monday Night Football with the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to the Baltimore Ravens. Below is the full schedule of opening spreads and totals:

Do I like any NFL opening lines?
I like the early line of another road team this week with the Houston Texans +5.5 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. These two teams have had polar opposite starts to the season. The Texans have had the toughest schedule so far facing the Chiefs and Ravens in Week 1 and 2. In contrast, the Steelers have had it pretty easy facing the Giants and Broncos, where the defense gave up 256 yards passing to Jeff Driskel. I think the Texans can keep this game close and even have a shot at winning it outright so I’ll take the +5.5, it’s already down to +4.5 in places. View the latest NFL Week 3 odds now!
When do the NFL lines open?
PointsBet Sportsbook released opening lines for every week of the 2020 season earlier this summer. Limits on these lines are much smaller than those found week to week. Most legal online sportsbooks post their lines after Sunday Night Football with limits increasing throughout the week as it gets closer to kick off.
Who sets the NFL opening lines?
Oddsmakers launch their opening lines as an educated guess at where they think the line will attract action on both sides. Early line movements usually indicate sharp action. Even though limits are small, sharps are the first ones thinking about opening lines. The lines will continue to move as the week goes on, limits increase, and more information becomes available such as injury reports and weather forecasts.Last updated: Tue 22nd September 2020
