MLB Monday leads us into the week with 10 games to hone in on.  You can find out our MLB picks for all of today’s huge matchups, but for now, let’s dive into my best MLB player prop bets for Monday, May 6.

Bryce Harper (PHI) over 0.5 walks (-125)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

Suppose this is your first time backing a batter to walk — strap in. The Philadelphia Phillies will look to complete a 4-game sweep of the San Franciso Giants today at 4:05 pm ET and the Phillies are indeed rolling. The loss of Trea Turner for the next month and a half will hurt a ton, but this lineup is still filled with power bats at the top and speed at the bottom. Bryce Harper headlines the Fightin’ Phils — that’s where we’re taking our action.

The Giants will look to avoid getting swept with RHP Mason Black — a rookie making his major league debut. He’s a Pennsylvania native who grew up a Phillies fan and theres’s no better way to get humbled than facing off against one of the most feared hitters of the last 20 years, Bryce Harper. Harper has been walked a total of 13 times in his last 10 games. He ranks in the top 5 in BB% against RHP. Even with Alec Bohm behind him in the lineup, teams would much rather face a righty than lefty Harper. Once Black gets pulled, Harper will get a Giants bullpen that ranks in the league’s top half in walks issued.

Sean Manaea (NYM) under 16.5 outs (-135)

Line available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.

It’s been another season of tough sledding for Sean Manaea. His xERA, xBA and BB% all rank in the bottom quarter of all pitchers to start the season. After serviceable years in Oakland, it all came crashing down as a member of the Padres, Giants and now Mets. He’ll look to bounce back against an underwhelming Cardinals team on Monday night but I’m not buying into it.

The core of the Cardinals’ lineup matches up well against LHP Manaea. They connected against him in years past. He’ll likely see an all-right-handed hitting Cardinals lineup other than Brendan Donovan, who hits LHP better than RHP. We’re under 16.5 outs from Manaea tonight, which has cashed in all 5 of his last starts. His sky-rocket BB% keeps him from going deep into the game. That, mixed with his relatively low pitch count and the team having an off-day tomorrow, should bode well for us.
