I've been a capper since my love for sports met my proficiency with numbers and math. The NFL and NCAAF have always been my first loves, followed by the NHL. Although I prefer sports that involve hitting people, I still love capping MLB, soccer, tennis, and even some esports. Living in Florida has its perks like year-round sports of any kind. Following 2 rather lopsided games to begin the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, the series shifting to Florida paid dividends for the Panthers — as they snuck away with a 3-2 overtime win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Thursday’s Game 3. The Panthers are still down 2-1 in the series, but Saturday’s Game 4 will also be in South Beach. With the matchups now getting tighter, it can be more difficult to predict a winner.

With that in mind, I have my top NHL player prop for the Stanley Cup Finals below.

Jack Eichel, VGS, Over 0.5 assists (+105)

When it comes to the Panthers, nearly all the attention immediately goes to Matthew Tkachuk. The same had been said about the Golden Knights and Jack Eichel until recently. It’s been Jonathan Marchessault that has taken over and is now the favorite to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. However, that’s providing a great opportunity for us to capitalize on some great value with Eichel.

It’s certainly not as if Eichel isn’t playing well, either. He began the Stanley Cup Finals with 2 assists in each of the first 2 games. Then he followed that up with an assist on Marchessault’s goal in Game 3. It certainly helps that Marchessault has been playing incredibly well. He has scored 13 goals over Vegas’ last 13 games, meaning there’s a great linemate for Eichel to feed and dish out assists. Eichel also had an assist in 4 straight games in the Western Conference Finals, helping him tally 17 in total this postseason. That’s the most of any skater — and 3 more than even the next closest. With his consistency and the Knights looking to bounce back, my best NHL player prop for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals is on Eichel to record an assist.
