The Major League Baseball week continues with a full 15-game slate on Saturday. It is headlined by the continuation of a series between 2 of the best teams in baseball, the Rays and Rangers. We also get Yankees vs Red Sox. On the whole, there are plenty of options with which to make some enticing YRFI/NRFI plays.

This market has become extremely popular in baseball betting. After all, you don’t have to sit around for 3 hours (or maybe a lot less now that games are not as long on average!) to see if your wager hits; the satisfaction (or in some cases disappointment) is immediate. It all comes down to the first inning.

Here are my best YRFI/NRFI bets for Saturday, and also be sure to check out all of our MLB picks.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Los Angeles Dodgers: NRFI (+102)

Getting a NRFI at plus money generally has good value unless the circumstances are egregious. In the case of Phillies-Dodgers, I’m definitely willing to back it. Los Angeles is sending Bobby Miller to the mound and nobody in the Philadelphia lineup has ever faced the rookie right-hander. Miller has been incredible through the first 3 starts of his career, with a 2-0 record, 1.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and a 16-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 17.0 innings of work.

There is a lot of familiarity between the Dodgers and Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola, but nobody has enjoyed any notable success outside of Mookie Betts (2 homers in 16 at-bats). Nick Castellanos is 3-for-13 lifetime in the matchup with 3 singles and Freddie Freeman is batting .232. Nola has pitched a clean first inning in 3 of his last 4 starts and in his most recent outing he blanked Detroit over 7.0 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out 12 batters.

Miami Marlins vs Chicago White Sox: NRFI (-122)

This is an interleague matchup, which obviously means little familiarity between the hitters and pitchers. That should give an advantage to the arms – at least the first time through the lineup. Only 3 total runs were scored in the series opener on Friday, including just 1 prior to the fifth inning (Chicago scored in the bottom of the second).

Saturday’s matchup pits Sandy Alcantara of the Marlins against Michael Kopech of the White Sox. Yasmani Grandal is the only Chicago batter who has ever gotten a hit off Alcantara and he is 1-for-3 with a single. Luis Arraez (what a surprise!) is the only Miami hitter who has ever done anything against Kopech, but all 3 of Arraez’s hits in 9 at-bats have been singles. Alcantara has surrendered first-inning run just once in 12 starts this season, while Kopech has pitched to the NRFI in 4 of his last 5.
