Although it’s been a fairly one-sided affair in recent head-to-head meetings, I’m still expecting a spectacular matchup between the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics tonight at TD Garden. The game tips off at 7:30 pm ET on ESPN and I’ve prepared a Nets vs Celtics Same Game Parlay which is available below. On top of that, we have picks on the side and total for all 9 Wednesday games on our NBA Predictions page, so make sure you check those out. But for now, let’s dive into our SGP.

Brooklyn Nets under 109.5 points (-118)

The Celtics head into tonight’s clash riding a 5-game win streak in head-to-head games played in the regular season, and in 4 of those wins they relied heavily on defense to get the job done. Brooklyn has failed to crack the century mark in both meetings so far this season, and they might struggle to do so tonight again with the likes of Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons and T.J. Warren all out of the line-up.

Backing the under has been a profitable bet in recent Celtics games with 6 of the last 9 cashing. Granted, not having Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III won’t be ideal for their defense assignments, but they still have Tatum and Brown handling the rock and they’ll be able to slow down the pace of tonight’s game. Kyrie Irving in particular has struggled in recent games against his old team, scoring under 20 points in 3 of the last 4 meetings. Brooklyn could find it hard to find points in this one if their main man on offense struggles to get going.

Jayson Tatum to score 35+ points (+185)

One man that has definitely had it going so far this season is Jayson Tatum, who is averaging 31.1 points per game, ranking 4th in the entire NBA. He’s upped his numbers to 32.3 per game in the last 9 he’s played while still shooting a respectable percentage both from the field and from three-point land. He didn’t have the best of games against the Nets in the 2 meetings so far this season, averaging just 24.5 points, but with Durant out of the way he should have a ton more energy on offense because he doesn’t have to chase KD around.

Tatum has dropped 30+ points in 3 games in a row and just cleared this line in the OT loss at Madison Square Garden the other night. With 9 wins in the last 10 meetings with the Nets, I’m expecting the Celtics to get the job done tonight and Tatum to have a big night offensively.

Royce O’Neale over 9.5 points (-120)

It’s all about others stepping up for the injury-depleted Nets at the moment. O’Neale has answered the call, averaging 9.9 points per game in his last 10 outings. He’s cleared this line 4 times in his last 6 games and 2 of those were on the road at Utah and Golden State. With back-to-back games of 14 points against New York and the Lakers, he’ll be brimming with confidence heading into tonight’s game. He also had 11 in the last game against Boston, which was the 2nd time in the last 4 meetings he’s gone double-figures against them.

At 34.6% opponent threes allowed per game at home this season, the Celtics rank outside of the top 10 best defenses in the NBA, so I’m counting on O’Neale to take advantage of that. He should also be able to take the ball to the hole with Timelord out of the lineup for Boston. If he clears this line then the Nets might have a shot at covering the spread here.
