Money Line Prediction

The Tampa Bay Lightning finally found a way to solve the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday. The Lightning went into that game without a goal against the Hurricanes this year, who had shut them out in the first two meetings. It was an impressive feat by Carolina, as not a single other team in the league has held the Lightning to one goal in a game this year. Meanwhile, the ‘Canes were able to hold them to zero on two occasions. Right from puck drop the Lightning came out with a point to prove on Monday. However, after an excellent first period of hockey they still found themselves without a goal. The experienced Lightning stuck to their gameplan and were able to ignore any frustrations they may have had for being kept off the board for what was 176 consecutive minutes vs. the Hurricanes. It was a Steven Stamkos one-timer that snapped the drought for the Lightning, who would rally around that goal and go on to win 4-2.

These teams have very similar stats on the year, and when you look at three games between them thus far it is evident that not much is separating them. In a game that could easily go either way, it may come down to the thinnest of edges. The Hurricanes are winning over four percent more faceoffs than the Lightning and are taking three fewer penalty minutes per game. Take the underdog Canes at plus money, as they have just as good of a chance as the Lightning to win this one.

Game Totals Prediction

Alex Killorn scored into the empty net in the final minute of the game on Monday to spoil the night for under betters as the it ended as a push. Expect to see another hard-fought defensive matchup in which neither side is willing to give up much. Alex Nedeljkovic is likely to get the start for Carolina, while the Lightning will likely go back to Andrei Vasilevskiy. Nedeljkovic is coming off his first career shutout, as he blanked the Bolts 4-0 on Saturday. After that game he was giving all the praise to his teammates, who played a very well-structured game in front of him. Look for Carolina to try and replicate that effort again on Wednesday. Vasilevskiy is off to another ridiculous start to the year. His 2.00 GAA and 0.931 SVP are amongst the best in the league. Take the under.
