Marlins vs Phillies Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies tee it up again on Wednesday night after Tuesday’s extra-inning, rain-delayed game. The Marlins ultimately won, pushing their winning streak to 7 in a row (just file that under “too little, too late”). The Phillies, on the other hand, are only a win or two away from locking up the #2 slot in the playoffs. That is important because it means they are unlikely to shut anyone down this week with the likelihood of a first-round bye and a week off anyway. So I expect Jesus Luzardo to go his full usual load, and I expect the bullpen arms to be fully available again on Wednesday. As such, I think this game is more likely an under.
It is also worth noting that Bryce Harper missed Tuesday’s game with an illness, and he will be questionable for Wednesday. Likewise, J.T. Realmuto left the game early with a contusion on his finger. That might sideline him for a game or two as well. Sure, the Phillies do not need their full lineup to hit Ryan Weathers, but a depleted lineup might only post a handful of runs, and that might keep us under the total. That is, it will keep us under the total if Luzardo gets back to business also. I think the game total under 8.5 is the way to play this one.
Marlins vs Phillies Prediction: Under 8.5 (-110) available at the time of publishing. Playable at that number.
