The final golf Major of 2025 has arrived, as the sport’s elite across the PGA and LIV descend upon Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland for the British Open. Scottie Scheffler is unsurprisingly the hot favorite while local man Rory McIlroy will be hoping to win his 2nd Major of the year in his home nation. However, there are plenty of betting markets to target in the British Open outside of who will win, and I’ve picked out my best prop bets, targeting Top Debutant, Top Senior, Top Australian and a Top-40 finish. Let’s dive in.

If you’re on the lookout for a new sportsbook for the 2025 British Open, you can find out the best golf betting sites available right now and earn THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in bonus bets using our unique promo codes!

British Open Top Australian best bet: Cameron Smith (+400)

Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.

Cameron Smith broke Rory McIlroy’s heart at St. Andrews 3 years ago, claiming the Claret Jug thanks to a masterful final-round short-game display, and he could be set for a big week at Royal Portrush. Smith deserves a 2nd look at triple-figure odds in the winner market, but his record in Majors this year is off-putting – he has missed the cut at the Masters, the PGA Championship and the US Open. However, this is arguably the Major that suits Smith best, and he demonstrated as much at Portrush in 2019, when he finished in a share of 20th place.

Smith has finished 13th and 7th in his last 2 LIV Golf tournaments, sparkling as per usual on and around the greens, but also showing improvement with his irons, which suggests he is a threat this week. The best way to support him could be to back him in the top Australian market. Of his main rivals, Adam Scott is a deserving favorite, but he missed the cut at Portrush in 2019. Jason Day failed to make the weekend at the John Deere Classic last time, and Min Woo Lee has been inconsistent since making his US breakthrough in Houston in March.

British Open Top Debutant best bet: Harry Hall (+800)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Like Smith, Harry Hall possesses a wizard-like short game, and he looks a big runner in the top debutant field. Hall is no stranger to coastal golf, and he tees it up at Portrush having finished in the top 25 of his last 7 tournaments.

British Open Top Senior best bet: Stewart Cink (+360)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Padraig Harrington is unsurprisingly the favorite in the top senior market, but consistent Champions Tour performer Stewart Cink is being underestimated. Cink, who defeated Tom Watson at Turnberry in 2009, has finished in the top 4 of the last 3 senior Majors. He was 20th at Portrush 6 years ago, while he also finished 23rd at the 2023 British Open at Hoylake.

British Open Top-40 finish: Daniel Brown (+170)

Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.

Daniel Brown lit up the British Open last year, eventually finishing 10th having led after the first round, and he looks worth backing for a top-40 finish at +170 odds. Brown claimed an emotional triumph in the BMW International Open a fortnight ago and then made the cut in Scotland. He is a capable links golfer who could again make his presence felt on his 2nd Open start.
