Let’s start our action with the last game of the slate between the Athletics and Mariners. George Kirby will take the mound for Seattle after getting obliterated by the Mets in Williamsport. He allowed a season-high 12 hits and failed to reach the fifth inning for just the 2nd time this season. Nonetheless, this is a great bounce-back spot versus an Athletics team that has yet to see him this season. That’s a big advantage to the pitcher in that spot, especially at home — where Kirby has been much better.

Mick Abel will make his 1st start in a Twins uniform on Saturday versus the woeful White Sox. Abel was the main selling point in the Jhoan Duran deal to Philadelphia. He showed flashes for the Phillies, including six innings with nine strikeouts in his major league debut, but regressed before eventually being dealt at the deadline. However, Abel lit it up in the minors for the Twins — now getting his big league shot for his new club.
