We don’t need to underscore ths aggression in this rivalry, Ben Wallace and Ron Artest can tell you all about that one but that’s the thing – Detroit and Indiana can’t stand each other. We know the Pacers are not the Taster’s Choice of the East this year and the Pistons meanwhile have been playing as good as basketball as any. But the bottom line is when you have a rivalry as potent at this one, you grab the points, especially when the home team is taking back the tag. Roll with the Pacers.
Cavaliers vs Raptors best bet: Raptors +110

Toronto in the Great White North at a plus price? Don’t mind if we do. One can salivate over Cleveland’s high-octane offense as much as they like, but the Raptors will do you one better. The Raps are shooting over 50% from the field on the year and are scoring 121 points per game. Put home court in their back pocket against a transitional and tempo team like the Cavs, Toronto is set up to feast. We’ll play it that way. Raptors outright.

Knicks vs Nets best bet: Nets +13.5 (-110)

Another rivalry game where records, trends, and narratives go out the window. The Knicks are 9-6 on the year while the Nets are 3-13, these are two sides trending in opposite directions. New York is a championship contender while Brooklyn is looking like a lottery side yet again. New York has also owned this series dubbed “The Battle of New York”. The price would suggest a massacre is nigh in Brooklyn but this is one of those games where the Nets empty the tank and if they are any bit competent, they come in under the lofty number.

Mavericks vs Heat best bet: Under 241.5

The Heat are heavy favourites and Dallas has certainly seen it’s struggles as a boom or bust side. Should the Heat get this under control, they tend to enforce a slower tempo when they’re ahead. Unless Dallas finds some lightning in a bottle, this is a game that could be a potential rout and should that be the case, we’d have to see Miami put up some serious points, if they get the Mavs under control early. The total is not conducive to the over.

Blazers vs Bucks best bet: Bucks -1.5 (-110)

We’re going to have to lean into the Bucks here as playing in the Cream City is a tough ask for any. Yes, the Greek Freak isn’t playing for Milwaukee but Rip City is without Jrue Holiday which is key, considering he is perhaps their best play with a boat-load of experience. The Deer also gallop at home, they play winning basketball in the Fiserv Forum and they are shooting nearly 50% on their hardwood. All of this points to Milwaukee being the play here.
Nuggets vs Grizzlies best bet: Grizzlies +7.5

Two teams with different locuses in the media. Denver looks every bit the powerhouse it is on a perennial basis, playing .750 basketball on the year while Memphis is five games under .500 clutching to the last play-in spot. Add in the Ja Morant drama with this side and all of a sudden, the Nuggets look like the safe bet here. Here is the thing about the Grizzlies that we like here. They are a tempo team, they are ninth in the league in pace while Denver sits 23rd. This is the perfect counteraction to a team that is among the best in scoring with nearly 124 points per contest. Memphis will get more possesions, more looks, and more opportunities to score and if they capitalize they can go tit-for-tat with Denver and not only come in under the number, but perhaps win outright.

Bulls vs Pelicans best bet: Pelicans +5.5

The Bulls are outperforming in key metrics — scoring, rebounding, assists — while the Pelicans are on a long losing streak and giving up points at a clip. The Pels have lost nine straight to be precise. Which is why this line makes absolutely no sense. One would think that Chicago should be laying more lumber here to the hosts and they are not, the line looks soft. We get it, backing a team on a skid is never an easy assignment but with that comes an enhanced price almost certainly. And with that being said, NOLA is priced inside two possesions. One thing about Chicago is that it can forget to pay defense at times and if that happens, the Pelicans cannot only cover here but win. We’ll stick with the points.
Rockets vs Suns best bet: Suns +180

This is the perfect time to back the Suns. Houston will be without the face of their franchise – Kevin Durant and Phoenix is playing some exceptional basketball. The Suns have knocked off the Timberwolves and Spurs in back-to-back games in The Desert and they have been able to do so, playing a defensive-brand of basketball. Home court and defense translates, regardless of opponent. Take away said opponent’s biggest offensive weapon and this is a contest tailor-made for Phoenix to not only cover, but win outright. Forget the points, Phoenix rolls again.
Jazz vs Warriors best bet: Jazz +13.5 (-110)

What speaks to us here is the Over/Under: 238.5. This then could be deciphered as an offensive-oriented tilt. Does one wish to be laying nearly two touchdowns in such an environment? Probably not. Let’s not forget a few other key ingredients. Utah has the faster pace and they have the edge on the glass, a distinct one at that. Utah is third in rebounding (46.6 rpg) while the Warriors sit 22nd (42.2 rpg). This is another edge for the Jazz who can optimize possesions and create second chances while pushing the tempo. None of these elements align for Golden State to cover and the only way that they do is if Utah throws up a ton of bricks while the Warriors make all their shots. Alot needs to happen for the Warriors to get home here. Take the points.

Timberwolves vs Kings best bet: Timberwolves – 9.5 (-110)

The Timberwolves are significantly favored in this matchup for good reason against a struggling Kings team that overall appears a bit lost. Minnesota brings size, athleticism and a clear front-court advantage. The Kings’ don’t have their best player available in Domantas Sabonis. It’s alot to overcome against a Minnesota team that is clicking on all cylinders. Sure, the Wolves lost to the Suns in their last game on a last-minute basket but Phoenix can match Minnesota’s defensive acumen and turn a game of possessions into a rock fight. Sacramento cannot do that. Their defense sits among the worst in rating (27th) and their offense sits 26th in overall rating. Add in the fact this is a team with just three Pythagorean wins on the year, they are outmatched and outclassed here. Minnesota minus the points.
