The NBA brings us a 7-game slate for us to enjoy on Saturday night. Among those in action are the Houston Rockets, who will look to solidify their grasp on the second seed in the Western Conference with a win over the Dallas Mavericks. They are one of 3 teams that are 5.5 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Also check out all of our NBA previews. But for now take a look at my best bet selections for each of the contests.
Pelicans vs Nets best bet: Nic Claxton Over 1.5 blocks (-114)
The Pelicans should be a perfect opponent for Nic Claxton to put up defensive numbers. This season they rank 29th in opponent blocks per game. They also have an undersized center in Derik Queen, so look for Claxton to be able to use his length to impact his shots.
Hawks vs Wizards best bet: Over 235.5 (-108)
Both of these teams are in the top 10 of the league in pace this season. The Hawks are also coming into this contest after their last outing combined for 267 points. Now taking on a team that is dead last in defensive rating should help lead to another high-scoring game. I’m going with the over.
Bucks vs Pistons best bet: Myles Turner Over 12.5 points (-108)
With Giannis Antetokounmpo out, it will be up for Turner to be lead the scoring inside the paint for the Bucks. He is coming into this contest after a 19-point showing against the 76ers. Turner is a 39 percent shooter from deep this season and should be a threat from the perimeter.
Warriors vs Cavaliers best bet: Cavaliers -8 (-108)
The Warriors look set to remain shorthanded, with Stephen Curry being out and Jimmy Butler questionable to play. They have scored 105 or fewer in 3 of their last 4 games. Against a Cavaliers team that is in the top 10 in offensive rating over the last 10 games, so the visiting Warriors will have trouble keeping pace.
Clippers vs Timberwolves best bet: Clippers +10 (-108)
The Clippers come into this game with a healthy roster and with the Chris Paul drama behind them, they should be set to push on. Kawhi Leonard matches up well against Anthony Edwards. If the Timberwolves’ star struggles in this one, the Clippers would be well positioned to keep this game competitive.
Rockets vs Mavericks best bet: Under 224.5 (-108)
The Rockets have held their opponents to under 105 points in 5 of the last 6 games. They are taking on a Mavericks team that has shown improvement of late, ranking in the top half of the league in defensive rating over the last 10 games. With Anthony Davis holding it down in the paint, this should turn into a defensive battle.
