NBA

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. After the dominant regular season that the Cleveland Cavaliers had, and the experience that the defending champions Boston Celtics possessed, not may would have predicted that it would be Pacers vs Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Indiana Pacers have been a pleasant surprise, with a balanced squad that seems well-positioned to attack any weakness presented in front of them. Now they will be faced off against a New York Knicks team that has the incredible energy of the city behind them. You can watch tonight’s action live on TNT at 8:00 pm ET, and don’t miss our NBA picks for Pacers vs Knicks along with every game of the NBA Conference Finals. But for now, let’s take a look at my Pacers vs Knicks first basket best bet.

Pacers vs Knicks first basket best bet: Myles Turner (+700)

Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing.

Karl Anthony-Towns has won the tip in each of the 3 games against the Indiana Pacers this season, with 2 of those games being against Myles Turner. However, there is no guarantee that will continue tonight. The centers are very similarly matched in terms of height and length which should give Turner a great chance to win his first jump ball against him here. The Pacers have been leading the postseason in true shooting percentage while the Knicks have just been 12th in that category. The visitors should be better positioned to take advantage of their early chances here.

In both games in which Turner appeared against the Knicks this season, he has made the first basket for the Pacers. In one of the games, it was the first basket overall. Towns is one of the bigger defensive liabilities on the Knicks roster, so do not be surprised to see the Knicks trying to test him early. Turner has been on an offensive role so far this postseason, upping both his field goal percentage and 3-point percentage to 50.9% and 45%, respectively. I’m expecting the Pacers to use him in a pick-and-pop early on here.
