The Blues and Bruins have both struggled a little bit with identity this season. St. Louis much more than Boston. But it is getting to the point in the season where if either team is going to make a playoff push, now is the time they need to go on a run. These are an important 2 points and on a jam-packed Thursday slate, this should be a great game. Boston Bruins ML over St. Louis Blues (+120)

Unfortunately for the Blues, they have been a fairly easy fade this season. They have really struggled to get things going. Last week, St. Louis won consecutive games for just the second time all season. Then they were -150 favorites against Anaheim to make it 3 straight wins. The +130 Ducks would then go into St. Louis and beat the Blues 4-1. This money line is similar in that the better team all year is Boston, yet they are plus money underdogs.

The Bruins’ 30 points has them just a point out of a playoff spot and they are 11-6-0 in their last 17 games. Lately, it has been a bit of a roller coaster for Boston as they have not strung together wins since mid-November. But the Blues present a get-right spot for just about any team in the league and the Bruins are no exception. Boston has been the better team all season long, St. Louis’ already weak goal production has been hampered by injuries, and the money line value has too much appeal to fade. Boston is the more reliable play in this one, so we’re taking the home team to kickstart our Blues vs Bruins Same Game Parlay.

Under 5.5 (-110)

The under has been trending for both teams. The total has gone under in 8 out of the Blues’ last 9 games, as well as in their last 6 played on the road. With that, their over under record on the season is 12-15 including 5-7 on the road. The under has also hit in 6 out of the Bruins’ last 9 games, and in 6 out of the last 8 played head to head in Boston.

The primary driver of the low total in this one looks to be St. Louis’ inability to produce. While neither team has flexed phenomenal goal prevention this year, game totals have been held low due to weaker goal scoring. The Blues’ 2.56 goals scored per game ranks 30th in the NHL, and they enter this game having scored 2 or fewer goals in 8 out of their last 9 games. The pure matchup, team strengths and weaknesses, and recent trends all bode well for another game total under.

Morgan Geekie over 0.5 points (-165)

While the Blues have struggled to score, the Bruins have had a few stellar performances this season. One such stellar performance has been from Morgan Geekie. Geekie’s 20 goals are good for 2nd in the NHL and by far the most on the Bruins. Tonight, he gets a very favorable matchup against a Blues team that has struggled with goal prevention all season, has struggled on the road all season, and is banged up.

On Thursday, Geekie will need to continue to carry the load for this team offensively as David Pastrnak will be out of the lineup due to an injury. Of course, Geekie and the Bruins would rather have Pastrnak than not. But in 3 games without him, Geekie has answered the call yet again with 2 goals and 5 points, along with increased ice time. This is a good player who is on the top line and top power play that has a very good chance to produce yet again on Thursday.
