The Champions League returns after a blockbuster first gameweek. Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain visit Barcelona in undoubtedly the best game across the 2 days of action, but there are plenty of interesting matchups on Tuesday, September 30 and Wednesday, October 1, with a whole host of top teams taking to the pitch. Tottenham faced Bodo/Glimt in the semifinals of the Europa League last season, winning home and away to progress to the final, which they would eventually win. Spurs are in an even better position than they were at that point, thanks to the arrival of new coach Thomas Frank, who has overseen his team lose just once in 8 games this season. With Xavi Simons, Randal Kolo Muani and Mohammed Kudus joining the team over the summer, they have much more attacking options than they did when these 2 teams last met, and they should be able to get the win against a Bodo/Glimt team that tied 2-2 with Slavia Prague last time out.

Atletico Madrid pulled off a massive statement win at the weekend, beating rivals Real Madrid 5-2, and they look set to be part of another high-scoring game when they host Eintracht Frankfurt. The German team have seen all 7 of their games this season go over 3.5 goals, and a repeat of that looks likely in this one. Julian Alvarez is fit again for Atleti and has scored 5 times in his last 2 games. He is likely to cause plenty of problems for a Frankfurt defense that has conceded 12 goals in their last 4 matches. Take over 3.5 goals.
Champions League best bet: Marseille ML over Ajax & both teams to score (+182)

Marseille have turned into one of the best home teams in Europe under Roberto De Zerbi, winning 10 of their last 11 Ligue 1 games at the Stade Velodrome. They were only narrowly beaten 2-1 by Real Madrid in their Champions League opener and should be too strong for an Ajax team that lost 2-0 to Inter Milan. However, both teams have scored in 4 of Ajax’s last 5 games and that is the pick in a Marseille victory.

Lamine Yamal missed Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Newcastle through injury but he is back and looks a solid bet to score when his team host defending Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. The youngster has already scored 2 goals this season in just 3 starts and looks set to announce his return to the continental stage with a bang.
