It hasn’t been the year Saquon Barkley and the rest of the Eagles offensive core envisioned after a record-setting season that led to a Super Bowl. Yet, they find themselves as the top seed in the NFC with wins over the Chiefs, Rams, Buccaneers, and Packers. Last Monday Night was rock bottom for an offense that is as talented as they come, particularly up front. I’m expecting that group up front to lead the way for Barkley to eclipse the 71 rushing yard mark and cash in our 3rd straight Sunday Night player prop bet.
Barkley started last week with 29 yards on the ground on the Eagles opening drive. He failed to build off that for the rest of the game. He finished with 60 yards on the ground on 22 carries. There was a play late in the 4th quarter where Barkley was tripped by Micah Parsons, eliminating a big-play on the ground – A theme for Barkley last season.
The Lions are depleted in the secondary, putting pressure on them to defend Devonta Smith and A.J. Brown, amidst his displeasure in the offense. If the Eagles defense can continue to put the Eagles in winning game scripts, it has the makings to be a breakout game for the Eagles and particularly Barkley running the ball.
