DFS Must-Start Cash Game Players for Championship Week

DFS Must-Start Cash Game Players for Championship Week

By Daniel Newton

This week is the final week to be able to use full rosters in DFS on DraftKings and FanDuel during the fantasy football season. We only have two games to choose from for our rosters as the slate only involves the AFC and NFC Championship games. This article, paired with the site-specific articles, will help to get you above the pay line in cash games for Championship Sunday. We will look at the top quarterback, running back, and wide receiver, all of whom will be must-start players on both sites. Let’s start by looking at the top quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes Top QB on the Slate

Coming off a massive game against the Houston Texans in which Mahomes threw for 321 yards and five touchdowns, Mahomes will be looking to lead the Chiefs to the Super Bowl. Mahomes is one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL, and I expect him to put up another monster game when the Chiefs take on the Titans. These teams squared off in week 10 of the regular season, and Mahomes had one of his best games of the season, throwing for 446 yards and three touchdowns. The Chiefs enter this game, allowing the 7th most passing yards per game with 257. I look for Patrick Mahomes to get over 300 yards and throw for at least two touchdowns in this game. The Chiefs are our NFL Pick in this game, and Mahomes has a lot to do with that reason. As a result, he is my choice at quarterback this week in DFS.

Derrick Henry Best Running Back in DFS

The Tennessee Titans have made it to the AFC Championship because of Derrick Henry’s play. In the two playoff games, Henry has rushed for a combined 377 yards and one touchdown. This week the Titans will be going up against the Chiefs. In their week ten match-up, Henry rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns. I expect to see a similar performance in this game, especially if the Titans are going to make it to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs have been one of the worst run defenses this season. Kansas City is allowing the 7th most rushing yards per game and the 5th most yards per attempt. I look for Henry to be a lock to get over 100 yards and find the end zone in this game.

Deebo Samuel Exploits the Packers Defense

My favorite play this week may come as a surprise to some. However, I expect Deebo Samuel to be one of the top wide receivers this week. The Packers have had trouble this season covering slot receivers, and that was evident last week with Tyler Lockett, who nine passes for 136 yards and a touchdown. I expect a reliable performance from Samuel, and he is priced as one of the cheapest receivers on the slate and will return massive value on his salary on both sites.
