St. Louis Blues ML over Winnipeg Jets (-115)

Home teams have completely dominated this series. The Jets’ 3 wins have come at home with a combined score of 12-7. The Blues’ 2 wins have come at home with a combined score of 12-3. It looks like a switch flips and these teams either become a shell of themselves on the road or become a juggernaut at home. The Blues need the same to hold true tonight if their season is going to continue. For them, the success at home has not been limited to just the 2 games played in St. Louis in this series. Their 2 home wins this series have made it now 14 consecutive wins at Enterprise Center, dating back to February.

While the Jets would likely, and rightfully, be the favorite in Game 7 if there were to be one, it makes sense that they are the underdog in this one. Winnipeg will be facing a couple of demons in St. Louis tonight. That pertains primarily to Connor Hellebuyck’s struggles in St. Louis this series. Hellebuyck, the likely consensus Vezina winner and Hart candidate, was pulled in both Game 3 and Game 4. In those games, he had 11 goals against and made 32/43 saves for a .744 save percentage and a 7.13 goals-against average. Sure, those are anomalies in the grand scheme of things. But it is enough to add a little bit of extra pressure and overthinking in this game. Add in the fact that Winnipeg will be without Mark Scheifele and still Nikolaj Ehlers, and the Blues hold plenty of appeal.

Over 5.5 (+124)

This has been a high-scoring series, thanks primarily to the aforementioned home team domination. The home team has scored 5+ goals in 4 of the 5 games in this series and an average of 4.8 goals per game. If the Blues continue this phenomenal run, it will bode well for Over 5.5 goals as it will not take much for the Jets to cash this ticket.

While Hellebuyck is likely to be better than in Game 3 and Game 4, the Blues should push even harder as they will be in desperation mode. Look for St. Louis to pepper him and crash the net every chance they can get shots on goal. St. Louis has been successful by way of offensive production this series, and will likely try to go back to what has worked as opposed to hanging back and trying to play a containment game. Another factor that could bode well for offensive production is how physical this series has been. There have been an average of 6.6 total power plays per game. While neither team can afford to play irresponsibly and take penalties, the natural physical play could continue to lend to more man advantages and thus, goals. Getting plus-money odds to get another game total over 5.5 goals is solid value.

Jordan Kyrou anytime goalscorer (+190)

If the Blues are going to win this series, or make a run in general in these playoffs, they need Jordan Kyrou to step up. When Kyrou is on, this team flat-out looks different and is generally dominant. This is a guy who won the NHL’s Fastest Skater competition a few years ago, has some of the best raw talent in hockey and has scored more than 30 goals for the third consecutive season. His production has earned him the highest paycheck on the Blues at $8.125m per year. Unfortunately, the production has not translated to the postseason thus far in his career. It will need to, though, if St. Louis is going to get over the hump.

As mentioned, Kyrou already possesses the raw talent to produce. He has proven as much for 4 seasons now. Adding in the urgency tonight of the season hanging in the balance, Kyrou’s props have added appeal. There is nothing left to leave in the tank. As the team leader in goals this year, he is arguably the most likely player on the Blues to score and will garner plenty of ice time and opportunity to produce in a must-win game. Head coach Jim Montgomery should lean on his highest-paid player and most productive goalscorer to help get the Blues back to Winnipeg for a decisive 7th game. Look for Kyrou to bring a little extra and hopefully help cash our Jets vs Blues Same Game Parlay.
