MLS Free Soccer Picks & Expert Best Bets For 8/17/19
It’s a full slate of games across the MLS on Saturday with 11 games taking place. Let’s breakdown the games and help you decided what games and teams to bet on, and which ones you should stay away from with our MLS Free Soccer Picks.
New York Red Bulls vs. New England Revolution
The New England Revolution haven’t been a great road team this year, but they do come into this game hot having picked up at least a point in four of their last five games. The offense has been elite average 2.60 goals per game over the last five and I think that offense can keep them in this game. I am not sure the Revolution will win this game but getting +0.75 at right around -120 is the way to go. Back the Revolution against the spread.
Montreal Impact vs. FC Dallas
This is a really tough game to call because even though FC Dallas has played a little better soccer as of late, they haven’t been a good team on the road all season. I really don’t have any trust in the Impact to win this game, but on the road FC Dallas has only picked up points in four of the 13 games. It’s a lean to the Montreal Impact in this game, but I would stay away from it.
Columbus Crew SC vs. Toronto FC
The Columbus Crew are only averaging 1.14 goals per game on their home pitch and to have success it’s because the defense is strong. For Toronto they are a good offensive team at home, but on the road they really struggle averaging only one goal per game. I expect this is a game where both teams are going to struggle to score and it wouldn’t shock me if the final score was 1-0. The play in this one is under three goals.
FC Cincinnati vs. NYC FC
FC Cincinnati is an expansion team, and they have shown that time and time again with their play on the pitch. Over the last five games they are averaging only one goal per game and that has led to them only playing to one draw and four losses. New YorkCity FC hasn’t been a great team on the road, but there is no way I am betting on the home squad. Back NYC FC on the money line.
Minnesota United FC vs. Orlando City SC
Orlando City and Minnesota United have only played two times since Minnesota United came into the league, and both of those games were won by Minnesota United. At home this season Minnesota United has been really good losing only one of the games. A big reason is the defense giving up only 0.69 goals per game and that will be the difference in this game. It’s a bigger number to lay, but it’s the play, back Minnesota United to win on the money line.
Chicago Fire vs. Philadelphia Union
This is a game I would stay far away from. The Union are no doubt the better team, but whenever I bet against the Fire they seem to find a way to beat me. I still think the play is the Union as the underdogs in this one, but I would stay away from it.
Sporting KC vs. San Jose Earthquakes
Sporting KC had a big win a few games against the Seattle Sounders but since that point, they have gone back to their old ways. In their last game their offense really struggled scoring zero goals and that led to a loss to Orlando City. The San Jose Earthquakes also come into this game off a bad loss against the Colorado Rapids but I think they will use that for fuel in this game. Back the Earthquakes to get the job done.
Houston Dynamo vs. Colorado Rapids
The Colorado Rapids are a terrible road team winning only one of the games, and I expect they will really struggle again in this game. The Dynamo have been a really good home team this year winning seven games and this one is going to get ugly early. The Dynamo -1.5 is currently sitting right around +155 and that is the play in this game to get some extra value.
Real Salt Lake vs. LAFC
This might be the most exciting game of the weekend with two very good teams going head to head. LAFC has won seven games on the road, while Real Salt Lake has won nine of their home games. It’s hard to bet against LAFC, but I think that is the way you need to attack this game. LAFC is actually the favorite in this game which means there is even more value on Real Salt Lake. Real Salt Lake is currently sitting at +210 and the play is for them to win on the money line.
Vancouver Whitecaps vs. D.C. United
Another game I am staying far away from on Saturday is this game between the Vancouver Whitecaps and DC United. The only angle I do see in this game is with DC United as a slight lean. Over the last five games the Whitecaps are averaging less than a goal while giving up 2.20 goals during the same stretch. I don’t love what DC United has done this season, but I don’t see the Whitecaps having much success on offense. The play is with DC United on the money line, but it’s also a slight lean to the under.
LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders
The LA Galaxy have been struggling a bit coming into this game but they have been a really good team on their home pitch winning nine of the 13 games. For the Sounders they have really struggled on the road winning only three games. The biggest issue for the Sounders on the road is scoring goals, and the Galaxy defense is going to lock down in this game. The Galaxy are at a really nice price sitting at -110 and I wouldn’t be afraid to drop some big money on this game, especially if it stays near the -110 price point.
