With the NBA all-star break fast approaching, the association is going out swinging with a huge 14-game slate on the penultimate night of action. Among the matchups to get excited for are an ESPN doubleheader featuring Knicks vs 76ers and Spurs vs Warriors, along with crunch matchups such as Pistons vs Raptors, Bucks vs Magic, Thunder vs Suns and Grizzlies vs Nuggets. Best NBA player prop bet: Christian Braun (DEN) over 2.5 first-quarter points (-138)

Our first-quarter bets have been incredibly generous to us, so we won’t be scared off by the juice here. We are getting a bet that can hit in just one shot, which is exhilarating. Christian Braun has had a rough go from deep this year, but is one year removed from shooting 39% from three, so we can expect some positive regression and for his percentages to go back up in the 2nd half of the season. In the last Denver game, we saw Braun shoot 4 threes in the first quarter and take 6 shots overall — with that volume, this prop feels like a bargain.
Braun has played 7+ first-quarter minutes in 19 straight games and he has seen 9 minutes and all 12 minutes over his last 2 outings. Memphis ranks in the bottom 10 against shooting guards from deep and I imagine they will be game-planning mostly for Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Braun should find himself open at some point in this quarter, and he just has to make his looks. This game feels like another amazing NBA blowout, so I am happily avoiding the chance of that and singling out the first quarter. Let’s roll!
