NBA Prop Bets Today: Kawhi Leonard and Jay Huff amongst best NBA Player Props for Monday

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. After Sunday night gave us a couple of elite matchups, including the battle between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic, Monday night is more about the chasing pack. Teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers will be keen to show that they cannot simply be dismissed from the contender conversation. Winning tonight should help that cause.

You can also check out all of our NBA previews. But first let’s take a look at my favorite player prop bets for Monday.

Jay Huff, IND, Over 7.5 points (-106)

Over the last 2 games, Jay Huff has worked his way back into the Pacers’ rotation. And it has paid dividends, with 2 wins for the team. In his last outing he put up a 16-point effort in 31 minutes of playing time. He will now be taking on a Houston Rockets team that has repeatedly gone with supersized lineups, meaning Indiana will have lean more heavily on Huff once more.

The last time these sides met, the Pacers’ center was able to score 8 points in just 19 minutes of action. Despite the visitors’ size, players like Alperen Sengun are not known for their defensive capabilities — it is something Huff should be able to exploit. In each of their last 4 games, the opposing centers surpassed their season average in points against the Rockets. Huff is averaging 8.5 per game this season and will have a great chance of doing the same.

Kawhi Leonard, LAC, Over 5.5 rebounds (-114)

After being snubbed from the All-Star Game, I expect Kawhi Leonard to come out motivated. One category where that could be evident is rebounds. He is already averaging 6.2 rebounds per game this season and in 2 games against the Suns he is managing 6.5. The Clippers star has also hit the over on this line in 2 of his last 3 games.

The 76ers also happen to be dead last in rebounding percentage over the last 10 games. With Joel Embiid being probable to play and with him being a scoring threat from virtually any point on the floor, Ivica Zubac will have to stick super close to him. That should open the door for players like Leonard to come in and help out on the defensive glass, filling the void left by the Croat. Let’s back the over as a result.
