The NBA brings us 8 games to begin the new week. One of the featured games of the night will see the Los Angeles Lakers taking on the Houston Rockets. Depending on how the rest of the regular season plays out, we could very well see this as a first-round matchup in the Western Conference. With 5 teams realistically fighting it out for the 3rd seed, expect a playoff atmosphere between 2 of the contenders. You can find out all of our expert NBA picks for tonight’s action, but first, let’s break down my best NBA player prop bets for Monday, March 16.

Best NBA player prop bet: Kristaps Porzingis (GS) over 16.5 points (-115)
The Washington Wizards have had real issues dealing with centers. In just their last game they gave up 24 points to Neemias Queta, a player averaging 10 points a game this season. I do not need to remind anyone what Bam Adebayo did against them recently too. Tonight, it will be the turn of Kristaps Porzingis. While he has been limited to under 24 minutes of playing time, he gets his shots off in that time, averaging 13 attempts per game this month. As a result, he has hit the over on this line in each of his last 2 contests. Over the last 10 games the Wizards are 29th in the league in defensive rating and have given up more points to opponents than any other team. Porzingis looks well positioned to be one of the players taking full advantage.

NBA player prop pick: Derrick White (BOS) over 15.5 points (-120)
Over the last 10 games Derrick White has hit the over on this line on 7 occasions, coming just a point shy in another. That includes 22 points against tonight’s opponents, the Phoenix Suns. While Jayson Tatum has returned for the Celtics since, it should mean White gets less defensive attention and should have more favorable matchups. He should also have more space to attack from the perimeter. White has knocked down 3 3-pointers in each of his last 2 games and similar output here would set him up well to hit this over. The Celtics guard is knocking down 94.6% of his free throw attempts this month too so is unlikely to waste any chances here.

NBA player prop bet: Deandre Ayton (LAL) over 7.5 rebounds (+105)
Deandre Ayton has recorded 8 or more rebounds in each of his last 4 games, so it is surprising to get this sort of value on this line still. With Alperen Sengun being listed as questionable to play, it could leave him matched up against Clint Capela. Not only is he someone that will not space the floor and will leave Ayton to battle for boards in the paint, there is also recent history between the pair. If there is ever going to be a game in which Ayton will be motivated not to be outperformed, it is going to be this. Over the last 10 games the Houston Rockets are in the bottom 10 of the league in true shooting percentage so there should be no shortage of chances for him to pull down misses.
