NBA Prop Bets Today: Matas Buzelis and Ayo Dosunmu amongst best NBA Player Props for Monday

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. With the NBA All-Star Game just around the corner, teams will be hoping to build positive momentum before the break. Most of the league is still navigating the effects of the trade deadline, with lots of new faces looking set to put on their new uniforms tonight.

You can find all of our NBA picks for all of tonight’s 10 games, but first let’s take a look at my best NBA player prop bets for Monday, February 9.

Best NBA player prop bet: Matas Buzelis (CHI) Over 17.5 points (-120)

The Bulls made a lot of moves prior to the deadline and one player who has seemingly emerged with a larger role is Matas Buzelis. He has managed to score 18 or more points in 3 straight games, making at least 50% of his field-goal attempts. His opponents tonight are the Brooklyn Nets, who rank below all 3 previous opponents in defensive rating over the last 10 games. With the Bulls being fifth in pace over that stretch, they should generate enough possessions to fully take advantage.

Buzelis, with increased usage, should be able to convert these looks to buckets. With 11 made threes in his last 3 games, expect him to be effective from the perimeter, too. After all, the Nets are down in 25th in opponent 3-point percentage over the last 10 games. Expect all of this to help him get to in and around the 20-point mark.

NBA player prop bet: De’Anthony Melton (GSW) Over 1.5 steals (+100)

With Stephen Curry out and Buddy Hield no longer with the team, De’Anthony Melton should see a major role on Monday. Expect a lot of contributions to be on the defensive side of the ball. He has recorded 8 steals combined over the last 2 games and has hit the over on this line in 4 of his last 5 contests, overall. With the injuries to the Grizzlies, too, their backcourt will consist of Ty Jerome and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The pair combined for 7 turnovers in their last game — and with unfamiliar units thanks to the trade of Jaren Jackson Jr., mistakes should continue to haunt the visitors. Melton, averaging 1.7 steals per game on the season, should flourish in that category against the Grizz.

NBA player prop bet: Ayo Dosunmu (MIN) Over 1.5 made threes (-110)

Ayo Dosunmu could be set for a real breakout now that he is a part of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards will draw all of the defensive attention, allowing Dosunmu to do what he does best: space the floor and knock down shots from deep. He hit the over on this line in 3 of his last 4 games and for the season has been shooting at a phenomenal 45% clip from beyond the arc. Tonight’s opponents (the Hawks) should provide him with a chance to do that, especially since over the last 10 games they are 15th in opponent 3-point percentage. Expect the Timberwolves to look to get their new man involved early and take full advantage of his floor-spacing capabilities.
