Monday Night Football in Week 4 is another doubleheader and the early game gives us an AFC East showdown between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins (-2.5). Both teams are 0-3, so luckily, someone will no longer be winless after Week 4. The Jets are bringing back QB Justin Fields under center after missing Week 3 with a concussion. It is worth mentioning that New York’s offense put up 20 points and converted on 2-of-3 in the red zone under backup Tyrod Taylor. For Miami, they’re coming off a competitive loss on Thursday Night Football to Buffalo, but you have to believe Mike McDaniels is still very much in the hot seat. Let’s break down my best Jets vs Dolphins player prop bet, while you can also check out our NFL picks for EVERY GAME this season along with our Jets vs Dolphins predictions for MNF.

Best Jets vs Dolphins player prop bet: Braelon Allen (NYJ) Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+225)

Odds available on bet365 at the time of publishing. 0.75u

This is a rarity for me in article plays as I normally build a Same Game Parlay or give a 1u player prop. However, it’s tough finding a distinct edge on either side that fits either market of betting. I’m not sure what to make of the Dolphins’ offense after 3 weeks. They played up to their competition in Buffalo, needed a 74-yard punt return to almost beat New England, and had 8 points against the Colts. On the Jets side of the ball, Justin Fields just brings uncertainty to me. If it was Tyrod Taylor under center, I may have leaned Garrett Wilson in a receiving category, but he still can’t shake his happy feet in the pocket.

I’m going to pick on the Dolphins’ red zone defense instead. They’re #1 in red-zone plays allowed this season and are giving up the 2nd-most red-zone touchdowns (9). Allen has 1 rushing TD this season, which was a red-zone opportunity, and he’s currently doubled Breece Hall’s red-zone rush attempts, plus he’s run more red zone routes. Allen’s presence on the field is essentially in red-zone and short-yardage situations, given his 60-30-10 splits between him, Hall, and Isaiah Davis. If the Jets find the red zone against the NFL’s most red-zone friendly team, Allen should get his opportunity, and at over 2-1, that’s my play for the game.
