Best bet for NFL Week 8: Houston Texans ML over San Francisco 49ers (-125)
Odds available at bet365 at time of publishing
I’m jumping on this now before the Texans play the Seahawks on MNF. That result could of course sway this number in either direction, but I’ve got a feeling we see Houston deliver a strong performance and for this number to shorten regardless. The Texans started the season with a dismal 0-3 record, but those defeats came against some strong Rams, Bucs and Jaguars teams. They have since pulverized both the Titans and Jackson-less Ravens by a combined 70-10 score. Houston’s defense is holding up exceptionally well, and now that their offense is starting to show life, this team looks capable of going on a serious run.
The 49ers earned a big victory over the Falcons on SNF last week to move to 5-2 behind a big game from Christian McCaffrey, but I’m still not sold on this team. They are still dealing with a laundry list of injuries and while Mac Jones has been a good game manager, I don’t hold out much hope of him causing problems for a Texans defense that looks to be among the best units in the NFL. Given Houston is also at home, this game shouldn’t be close to a pick’em in my opinion, and I like the Texans to prevail at anything up to a field goal.
