NHL best bet: Maple Leafs vs Flyers Over 5.5 (-135)
The Maple Leafs and Flyers both enter this game in decent form thanks largely to offensive production. It has been a tumultuous year for the Leafs, but unsurprisingly, one strength they haven’t lost is their ability to score goals. Toronto ranks 5th in the NHL in goals scored per game, which has been reinforced by recent results. The Leafs are 5-1-1 in their last 7 games with an average of 4.57 goals scored per game during that stretch.
The door has also been open for Leafs opponents to score lately, as Toronto has allowed 4+ goals in 2 out of its last 3 games and in 3 out of its last 6. That could make for a good matchup for a Flyers team that has scored 5+ goals in 3 out of its last 4 games. With that, the over has hit in 4 out of Philadelphia’s last 5 games. The combined over/under record of these teams is 46-34-3, including a 5-2 Toronto win over Philadelphia earlier this year. The offense in this game sets up well to reinforce both recent and long-term totals trends.

NHL best bet: Penguins ML (-112) over Devils
The Devils’ situation has gone from bad to worse as the year has progressed — all after a scorching 8-1-0 start, no less. Since their last game in November, the Devils are 6-12-1. They have 2 wins in their last 8 games and are coming off a complete drumming at the hands of the Islanders by a score of 9-0. Yes, 9-0. Granted, off-games like that happen for every team in every sport, but they are usually the outlier. For New Jersey, it hammered on losing trends.
It is a much more refreshing feeling over in Pittsburgh’s locker room. The Penguins have won 5 straight and find themselves in a playoff spot over halfway through the year. They have scored 32 goals in their last 7 games for an average of 4.57 goals scored per game during that span. That makes for a tough matchup against a Devils team that not only just allowed a 9-spot, but has scored just 1 or fewer goals in 5 out of its last 8 games and 2 or fewer goals in 8 out of its last 11. Pittsburgh has good value here.
NHL best bet: Avalanche -1.5 (-105) over Senators
The evolving story of the 2025-26 Colorado Avalanche is well-told at this point. However, there is a new wrinkle as of this week. After a red-hot 10-game winning streak, the Avs have lost consecutive games in regulation for the first time this season. Those losses came at the hands of the Panthers and Lightning, phenomenal teams that have won 4 out of the last 6 Stanley Cups. It is not like Colorado laid and egg and looks pathetic. The Avalanche lost to very good teams, but expect them to have a chip on their shoulder and play with some added jam as to not make it 3-straight.
This Avalanche team is already purely the best team in hockey top-to-bottom in terms of raw talent and team chemistry. Adding the intangible of an angry Avalanche team at home make them even scarier. Colorado is the NHL’s best home team with a 17-0-2 record and 4.53 goals scored per game, along with a +2.67 goal differential per game. The Senators look to be walking into the Lion’s den having lost 2 straight and 5 out of 7. Ottawa does not look to be in top form, which is what it would need to hang in this one. Even at -105, these odds are decent value for Colorado to cover -1.5.
