Tuesday is loaded with intrigue on a fantastic 10-game slate. There are matchups featuring surging teams, spiraling teams, league juggernauts, inter-conference games, rivalries, and more. NHL best bet: Avalanche vs Lightning Over 6.5 (+100)
The Avalanche are the best team in hockey, and not far behind them is the Lightning. Both teams enter this game in fantastic form as Colorado just had a 9-game winning streak snapped, and Tampa is currently on a 7-game winning streak. The primary reason for the hot streaks has been goal production as opposed to goal prevention. The current production of these teams bodes well for another high total.
Colorado has scored 5+ goals in 4 out of their last 5 games and in 6 out of their last 9. Opponents against which they scored 5+ goals include Minnesota, Vegas, Los Angeles, and Carolina. Those teams are not exactly known for giving up goals in bunches. The story is similar for Tampa. They have scored an average of 5 goals per game during their 7-game winning streak. The over has hit in 4 out of Colorado’s last 5 games, as well as in Tampa’s last 5 games. This one sets up well for another over.

NHL best bet: Panthers 3-way ML over Maple Leafs (+125)
The outcome of the Winter Classic was far from ideal for the host Panthers. After getting rocked 5-1 at home and on national television for their 3rd loss in 4 games, the Panthers bounced back in a big way, dealing the Avalanche just their 3rd regulation loss of the season. There are not many teams more scary than this Panthers team scorned.Â
The Panthers have found a nice groove in the last month as they are 10-4-1 in their last 15 games. They have won 6 out of their last 7 played on the road which neutralizes Toronto’s strong play at home. Toronto is finally playing some good consistent hockey, but it remains to be seen how sustainable it is. This team has been the epitome of inconsistent all season, and now face a Panthers team in strong form and looking to stay hot.

NHL best bet: Golden Knights ML over Jets (-115)
Earlier in the season, not many would have expected a Golden Knights vs Jets game to be a matchup between a couple of desperate teams. But that is exactly what this represents. Although Vegas still holds the top spot in the Pacific, they are winless in their last 5 games and have just 2 wins in their last 10. As the better team and with an opportunity to capitalize on a completely spiraling opponent, the Golden Knights will come out with some added urgency to get back in the win column.
The Jets have lost 9 consecutive games entering this one. This losing streak follows a stretch in which they went 3-8-1. Winnipeg is in a very bad way since mid-November without much of any sign of life. The hill gets steeper facing a Golden Knights team that is just plain a better team, but also has won 9 out of the last 10 played head to head. Look for a strong effort from Vegas in this get-right spot against a struggling Winnipeg team.
