NHL best bet: Wild vs Sharks over 6.5 (+100)
High game totals have been trending in both Wild and Sharks games lately. The over has hit in 4 out of Minnesota’s last 6 games, as well as in 6 out of San Jose’s last 7. The total has also gone over in 4 out of the Sharks’ last 5 played at home. Head to head, the trends are also strong. The over has hit in 7 out of the last 10 played against each other, and there have been 14 goals scored in their 2 matchups this season.
The primary reason both teams have seen higher totals has been strong goal production. Although, San Jose’s weak goal prevention lately has also amplified trends. But the Wild have scored an average of 4.1 goals per game in their last 10, and 4.5 in their last 2 against strong Winnipeg and Vegas teams. The Sharks have both scored and allowed an average of 3.8 goals per game in their last 10, and scored 5.5 in their last 2. The pure matchup, team strengths and weaknesses, and recent trends look great for another over.

NHL best bet: Stars 3-way ML (-115) over Sabres
It has been a heck of a couple weeks for the Sabres as they enter this game on a 9-game winning streak. Unfortunately for Buffalo, they are about to play their best opponent in a month or arguably all year. Even tougher for the Sabres, the Stars are coming off a rare 2 consecutive losses and 2 extra days rest.
The Stars have been one of the best teams in the NHL all year. Their 57 points are 2nd most in hockey and are 6 points clear of the Eastern Conference leader. Even with a 9-game winning streak, the Sabres are still a distant 13 points behind the Stars. Despite consecutive losses, Dallas still collected points in both games, and is 8-2-3 in December. Their 3 days off to Buffalo’s 1 gives Dallas the advantage to prepare to get back in the win column, get healthy, and collect 2 points at home where they are 12-5-2.
NHL best bet: Avalanche -1.5 (-125) over Blues
Granted, taking any Avalanche line this season is hardly going out on a limb. But they are set up too well for another big win. Colorado enters this game on an 8-game winning streak as part of an insane 29-2-7 record. During their current winning streak, they have bullied teams by a combined average score of 4.38-2.13. This team is 16-0-2 at home with an average win of 4.44-1.94. They should be licking their chops with a vulnerable Blues team coming to town.
It has been a tumultuous season at best for the Blues. They have not been above .500 all year, and their 38 points and .475 point percentage have them sitting as the 4th worst team in hockey. Out of 32 NHL teams, St. Louis ranks 32nd in goals scored per game and 29th in goals allowed per game. Colorado leads the league in both. The Blues’ power play is 20th and penalty kill is 25th. This is a very lopsided game in favor of Colorado who leads the league in just about every meaningful category. Even this -125 is decent value for the Avalanche to cover -1.5 goals, and may be worth considering the Avs -2.5 at +150.
