The hockey world is one win away from a Stanley Cup Finals rematch as the Panthers have punched their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals once again with a 4-1 series win over the Hurricanes. They are just awaiting the Oilers or potentially the Stars. Edmonton would love nothing more than to solidify that possibility with a win tonight in Dallas. The Stars meanwhile will be desperate to extend this series, make a return to Dallas for Game 7, and avoid an unfavorable narrative from what could be their 3rd consecutive Western Conference Finals elimination. The urgency on each side should make for a fantastic game. If you will be tuning in and want to make have some action, here are my Oilers vs Stars Same Game Parlay picks at +550 odds. You can also get our NHL picks for this matchup.

Dallas Stars -1.5 over Edmonton Oilers (+190)

To start our Oilers vs Stars Same Game Parlay, we’re taking the home team on the puck line. Although they have been outplayed for the majority of this series so far, there are a few factors in the Stars’ favor for Game 5. Home-ice advantage came at a good time for the Stars as their backs are against the wall in a potential elimination Game 5. If this one was being played in Edmonton, it would look bleak for Dallas. But the Stars have won 7  of their last 8 games played at home as part of a solid 35-12-3 home record between the regular season and playoffs. They were the 6th-best team in the NHL at home in the regular season, and have been the best playoff team at home in the postseason. The Stars should feel much more comfortable tonight, even considering the circumstances.

In Game 7 against Colorado, which was another potential elimination game, Dallas mounted an impressive 3rd-period comeback for a 4-2 win at home over what was a very impressive Avalanche team. In the 2nd round, the Stars won all 3 home games played against the Jets to take care of the President’s Trophy winners in 6 games. That round-clinching win was at home, too. This is a good Stars team that is at their best inside American Airlines Center and currently has the health advantage. Edmonton lost another key player in Game 4 as Zach Hyman sustained a season-ending injury. The Oilers’ depth is going to be tested as Hyman represented their 3rd injury sustained to an important player. Look for the Stars to come out flying tonight and take it to the Oilers in front of the Dallas home crowd to keep their season alive.

Wyatt Johnston anytime goalscorer (+235)

The Stars have been very successful over the years thanks largely to their depth and the overall makeup of their roster. They have several great players, but have not really had that superstar game-breaker over the years. This version of the Stars added Mikko Rantanen late in the season, but they largely are yet another example of a deep roster providing results. A prime example of that is Wyatt Johnston. Johnston has had an impressive tenure in the NHL already at the ripe age of 22 years old. In 3 NHL seasons, he has played all 82 regular games each year, has scored 20+ goals in each year with consecutive seasons now of 30+ goals, had a 71-point season this year, and already has 55 postseason games under his belt.

Johnston was 1 of 3 Stars players this season to tally 30+ goals. Dallas also had 3 more 20+ goalscorers, along with 5 different 50+ point players and 8 double-digit plus-rating players. This illustration of the Stars’ depth shows that no matter who Wyatt Johnston plays with, he will be on the ice with fellow productive players who can get the job done. Currently, he is slated on a line with Jamie Benn and Mikael Granlund, as well as on the top power play with Mikko Rantanen, Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene and Thomas Harley. Given the aforementioned hit to Edmonton’s depth, Johnston and his linemates should get a more favorable matchup in Game 5, as Edmonton’s bottom 6 forwards are beginning to be thrust into their top 6. This +235 is good value for a productive player and a nice addition to our Oilers vs Stars Same Game Parlay.
