This Stanley Cup rematch has been everything the hockey world was hoping for and more. The series is knotted up at 2 games a piece through 4 games which have included 3 overtime games, 32 total goals scored, and a couple of multi-goal comebacks. The Panthers and Oilers are putting on a show. The show continues on Saturday in Edmonton where one of these teams will take a 3-2 series lead. These games are appointment viewing, so hopefully you can knock out any obligations and get to your favorite sports-watching spot. If you want to have some betting action on this game as well, here are a few picks we like as part of a same-game parlay at +440 odds. You can also get our NHL picks for this matchup and every game throughout the Stanley Cup Finals.

Edmonton Oilers ML over the Florida Panthers (-125)

The Oilers looked to be all but defeated after the first period of Game 4. It looked like they were on their way to a second consecutive blowout loss, a 3-1 series deficit, and on the verge of elimination with zero signs of life. But the Oilers pulled off an unbelievable comeback, only to blow the lead with 20 seconds left, to then win in overtime. The lows and highs have been incredible. It’s the high that the Oilers ended Game 4 on that looks to give them an advantage in Game 5.

At no point in this series have the Oilers played a full 60 minutes. Their longest stretch of consistent hockey has lasted arguably no more than a full period, maybe 2. Yet they find themselves in a spot where they can take a series lead at home to put themselves in the driver’s seat to win this series. This series trend of having to come back in dramatic fashion to win is not sustainable to win 4 out of 7 against this Panthers team. The Oilers have gotten away with sloppy play, and will look to get right in Game 5. They have home ice advantage and huge momentum on their side to do so. Look for the Oilers to play a more focused, complete game with the tailwind of their home crowd to take Game 5.

Over 6.5 (-102)

With each game that has gone by in the series, there is a thought of “this next game won’t be another high scoring game, will it?” After all, these teams have shown an elite ability to smother teams and minimize opponent chances all year. Plus, both goalies were in great form entering this series. Yet, none of that has mattered because, in fact, the next game continues to be another high scoring game. With 32 goals now scored between the Panthers and Oilers in this series, the game total average is an even 8.0 goals scored.

The second 5-4 final score of this series on Thursday made it now the 5th consecutive over for both teams, 6 consecutive overs head to head, and 9 overs in the last 10 games played between Florida and Edmonton. Entering this game, the over has also hit in 6 consecutive games played in Edmonton between these teams. The pure matchup of these teams bodes well for high totals and has made overs bettors some units during this series. The over has been the total pick to ride, even at 6.5 goals, and these teams have given zero indication that trend will change. Another over appears to be worth the pick.

Evander Kane over 0.5 points (+145)

If the Oilers are going to finish this thing out and avenge last year’s heartbreaking Stanley Cup Finals loss, they really need contributions beyond Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. For the most part, Edmonton has had those contributions from depth players this postseason. But this Panthers team is a different beast. The depth scoring is more vital now as this Final nears its conclusion. One player to keep an eye on that could make a significant impact on the last games of this series is Evander Kane.

Kane has a respectable 6 goals and 12 points in 19 games played this postseason. But even given a very high scoring series, the production has not been there for Kane against the Panthers. His role is an important one though because he finds ways to be valuable even if he is not contributing offensively. That value primarily comes with his physical play and general tenacity. Kane’s role is even more elevated now that the Oilers have been without Zach Hyman. Kane is on Edmonton’s second line and second power play, and shares the ice with impactful team members every shift, including McDavid and Draisaitl. Kane will be leaned on to be both a physical and offensively productive presence in the final games of this series. Getting +145 for him to come through with at least a point is good value.
