There was no shortage of dramatics in Game 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals. Somewhat surprisingly, though, even though last year’s final went to a decisive 7th game which was decided by 1 goal, none of those games went to overtime. This series is off to an exciting start with an overtime game already and it looks like fans are in for a heck of a series, as widely expected. Game 2 sets up for more fireworks, and if you have any interest in watching along with having a little bit of action, we’ve pieced together our Panthers vs Oilers Same Game Parlay picks at +500 odds. Florida Panthers ML over the Edmonton Oilers (+110)
The Panthers’ Game 1 loss on Wednesday was just their 3rd defeat in their past 11 games. It was also the 4th loss in their last 12 games played head-to-head against the Oilers. Lastly, it was Florida’s first road loss in 6 games. The stars aligned for Edmonton in Game 1, which, frankly, seemed to be fairly widely expected in the hockey world. But having good recent form, strong road performances this postseason and a game now under their belts, the Panthers have some appeal in Game 2.
In the 3 series played leading into the Stanley Cup Finals, the Panthers lost Game 1 in 2 of those. This is not unfamiliar territory for this Florida team. Somehow, some way, they usually seem to come out on the other side. The Panthers’ winning pedigree that has them on the precipice of dynasty territory also lends to a “business as usual” attitude among the team. That is advantageous for them as they have no interest in going home down 0-2. The Panthers are 8-2-1 on the road in these playoffs and showed fairly well in Game 1 despite their loss. This is a good bounce-back spot for the reigning Stanley Cup Champions.

Over 6.5 (+105)
The Over has been trending for both teams enough that it is difficult to fade, even at a total of 6.5. The total has gone over in 15 of the Panthers’ last 20 games, as well is in 8 of their last 9 played on the road. The Over has also hit in 4 of the Oilers’ last 6 games. Head to head, the Over has now hit in 7 of the last 8 played and in 5 consecutive games played head-to-head in Edmonton. The pure matchup of these teams typically bodes well for higher totals and there has not been much of an indication that will change any time soon.
Both goaltenders have been fantastic in this postseason. Despite a proven winning goalie in Sergei Bobrovsky and a red-hot goalie in Stuart Skinner, offensive firepower has outweighed goal prevention. It is easy to see why. The Panthers are as deep as any team in hockey, hence their 3rd consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers, meanwhile, have arguably the 2 best players in hockey, who made their presence known once again in Game 1. Despite both teams’ ability to keep the puck out of the net, their respective ability to score has been driving totals, which gives this pick good value at plus-money odds.
Brad Marchand over 0.5 points (+105)
Brad Marchand continues to be one of the more reliable forwards on the Panthers. Why wouldn’t he be, as a 1,100-game, 980-point player over the course of a 16-year career? He has been exactly what the Panthers were hoping and planning for when they traded for him back in March. This postseason, Marchand has 5 goals and 15 points in 18 games played. For a guy on the 3rd line and 2nd power play, that is more than adequate production. To add to the production, Marchand has continued to play a physical brand of hockey as well as a defensive brand of hockey, both of which have made him valuable throughout his career.
In Game 1, Marchand scored on the power play, which at the time gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead. With that, he now has 2 points and 7 shots on goal in his last 2 games. It also makes him 5th on this deep Panthers roster in point production during this postseason. Marchand should keep the foot on the gas as he is still very hungry to win his 2nd Stanley Cup. That may sound greedy because he already has a cup. But that came in his first full NHL season and he has since lost 2 other Finals. He doesn’t want to make it 3, especially late in his career. Look for Marchand to continue to play with urgency and do anything for his team to win. His production this postseason makes this an attractive addition to our Panthers vs Oilers Same Game Parlay.
