Dustin May will get the ball for Boston in his 3rd start since being acquired from the Dodgers. Meanwhile, the Yankees have Carlos Rodon on the bump, and his 2.08 ERA over his last two starts.
Kudos to May for pitching to a 2.87 ERA in three starts with Boston, but his advanced metrics have read poorly all season long. He ranks in the bottom 17th and 27th percentiles in xERA and xBA. In his last outing, he allowed 10 baserunners but surrendered only two runs. I don’t expect that same luck to occur at Yankee Stadium on Sunday Night.
On the other side, Rodon has phenomenal numbers versus the core of the Red Sox lineup. Alex Bregman, Jarren Duran, and Romy Gonzalez are a combined 6-46 off the southpaw.
