A new week kicks off in the NHL with six great matchups, including a battle between the Los Angeles Kings and Washington Capitals. This is the first of two matchups this season, and should give us great action between two capable rosters. They currently sit at very different spots in the standings, but with the likes of Alex Ovechkin and Anze Kopitar leading the way for their teams, it should be a battle. To get you set, here is our Kings vs. Capitals prediction.
The Kings currently lead the Pacific Division with a 10-5-4 record, but by a very tight margin as just five points separate them and seventh place in the division. They are playing in their fifth of a six-game road trip, but with how strong they’ve looked I have little doubt in their ability to take this one as well. Washington is no small task, but they have not looked threatening lately. The Capitals sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with an 8-8-2 record, and have posted a 1-3-1 record in their last five games. They are deemed the favorite as the home team, but I think they will be in tough to stop the Kings. Every point counts for Los Angeles in their efforts to stay atop the division, so i see them making this game count. With that in mind, we are siding with the Los Angeles Kings on the money line.
Kings vs. Capitals prediction: Los Angeles Kings ML (+110) available at time of publishing. Playable to (-110).

The Vancouver Canucks and Florida Panthers meet for a Monday night matchup in the NHL. These teams have performed at a similar level so far this season, posting just nine wins in 18+ games. This is below the standard for both, especially the Panthers who are two-time defending Stanley Cup champions. As a new week begins, each will look to start things the right way. Here is our Canucks vs. Panthers prediction.
It has been a frustrating season so far for Vancouver with a 9-9-2 record, but they have been in the mix lately. They are 3-2-2 in their last seven games, which includes a 6-2 thumping to the Tampa Bay Lightning in their most-recent game. The Panthers are similar at 3-3-0 in their last six games, but they are pegged as major favorites in this matchup. With Vancouver riding some momentum, I think this game can be a lot closer than the odds suggest, even with them being on the road in a back to back. With Florida missing two key stars in Alex Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk, they haven’t been as dominant as they have shown in the past. Between two teams who are desperate for sustained wins, I think this could go either way and will give us a close finish.
Canucks vs. Panthers prediction: Vancouver Canucks +1.5 (-115) available at time of publishing. Playable at that spread to (-135).
