The Nashville Predators and Washington Capitals hit the ice on the final night before the Olympic break. These intra-conference teams have very similar records, and while there is a good chunk of time left, they have lots of work to do. We have provided our Predators vs. Capitals prediction to get you set for what should be a hard-fought game.
Nashville is playing in their second game in as many nights, and will be the road team in this matchup. While they have been earning points, they have just three wins in their last nine games, so they aren’t necessarily showing a winning consistency. Washington has won four of their last seven, and they have been very solid on home ice, with a 15-10-3 record. They are also getting back center Pierre-Luc Dubois who has played just six games this season and will give a boost to the team. I also do not trust Nashville’s suspect defensive ability, as they give up the NHL’s fifth-highest goals against per game at 3.46. Washington will be looking to even the score against Nashville this season, and I say they do it.

The Ottawa Senators and Philadelphia Flyers meet for a Thursday night, Eastern Conference showdown in the NHL. These teams have met twice this season, with the Senators winning both. Can they complete the regular season sweep, or can the Flyers defend home ice? Here is our Senators vs. Flyers prediction.
While Philadelphia is coming off a win, they have looked underwhelming as of late. Before that win, the Flyers were on a run of 2-8-3. Momentum is scarce for them right now, as opposed to their opponents — who look good. Ottawa lost a very tight game to an elite Carolina Hurricanes team, but overall, they are 7-3-2 in their last 12 games. They are scoring at a rampant pace, and are proving to the league they are not out of the playoff race just yet. I expect their intensity to carry into this road game, where they have earned points in 4 of their last 6 (3-2-1).
Ottawa has elite talent throughout the lineup, which I believe will carry them through this game, as the offense is red-hot and can out perform the NHL’s 8th-worst goals per game average (2.93) and 4th-worst power play (16.3%). For our Senators vs. Flyers prediction, take Ottawa on the money line.
Senators vs. Flyers prediction: Ottawa Senators ML (-130) available at time of publishing. Playable to -145.
