2018 NFL Season: Dallas Cowboys Betting Recap

The Dallas Cowboys are America’s team but America was getting pretty frustrated with their play on the field the last few years. At the start of the 2018 season, it appeared that it might be another long season before the team traded for Amari Cooper and that seemed to jumpstart their season. They finished the regular season strong winning seven of the final eight games and winning one of the playoff games before falling to the Los Angeles Rams with a spot in the NFC Championship game on the line. Even with that success, the real question for bettors is if their success was enough to put money in your pocket? Let’s take a look at the Dallas Cowboys betting recap.

Cowboys Against The Spread

Being America’s team they are one of the most bet on teams which can cause lines to shift, but even with that, they were able to make you money. They were 9-7 against the spread going 5-3 against the spread at home and 4-4 against the spread on the road.

On grass they were 2-2 against the spread and on turf, they came in at a nice 7-5. Although they weren’t the most impressive team against the spread they made you money and in the betting world that’s all you can really ask.

Cowboys Over/Under

If you bet every game on the under with the Cowboys then they made you money, but if bet every game on the over, you lost some money, but not a ton.

On the season seven games covered the over, and nine games covered the under. At home five of the games actually covered the over with only three games covering the under.

On the road is where the under is was the play. The over was only the play in two of the road games while the under was the play in six of the games.

On grass the over was the play in one of the four games while they were an even 6-6 on the games on turf.

Super Bowl Odds

With a recap of last season let’s breakdown next season for Cowboys. Even after a nice season the Cowboys only have the 13th best odds to win the Super Bowl at 25/1 which is a bit surprising to me with how public of a team the Cowboys are, and how good the defense did look most of the year.

The Cowboys have 12/1 odds to win the NFC Championship game which is the 7th best odds in the NFC. The team sitting right in front of them at 10/1 is the Philadelphia Eagles and it will probably be the team they are competing against most of the year.

Where do they go from here?

If you are a Cowboys fan you have to be excited about this upcoming season but the biggest question is what is Dak Prescott going to do? At times he looks like a playoff quarterback and at times he still looks like a rookie who should be a backup. If the Cowboys want to make a run at the Super Bowl they need the playoff Dak Prescott to be there all season long.
