Coming into the 2018 season the expectations were high for the San Francisco 49ers. They had Kyle Shanahan calling the plays and Jimmy Garoppolo under center and many believed they could compete for the NFC West. It was injuries that really hindered the season though with Garoppolo tearing his ACL early in the season and everything seemed to go downhill from there. Straight up they finished with a 4-12 record but some teams with losing records can still make someone laying money every week, some money. Was that the case for the 49ers? Let’s break it down in our San Francisco 49ers Betting Recap

San Francisco 49ers Against The Spread

The simple answer to the question about the 49ers making anyone money is no, unless you bet against them a lot this season then you made a pretty penny. On the season the 49ers were 5-11 against the spread. At home they were 3-5 against the spread and on the road they were 2-6. It didn’t seem to matter where they played, they just couldn’t get the job done.

On grass the 49ers were 5-9 against the spread and on turf they were 0-2. A lot of the struggles this season were because of quarterback play and there is no doubt that is a big reason the team had such a hard time covering spreads.

San Francisco 49ers Over/Under

If you bet on the over every game this season for the 49ers you made a slight profit, but not much to write home about.

Overall this season the over was the play nine times, while the under was the play seven times. At home the over was the play four times and the under was the play four times. Away from home the over was the play five times and the under was the play three times. On grass the over was the play eight times and the under was the play six times.

On turf the over was the play one time and the under was the play one time. The average total points scored in games involving the 49ers this year was 48.6.

San Francisco 49ers futures

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to be the middle of the road team, at least according to the futures that have been released.

The 49ers odds to win the Super Bowl next year is currently 45/1 which is just behind the Houston Texans and right in front of the Denver Broncos. In terms of winning the NFC the 49ers have 25/1 odds which is tied with the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants. There are only four teams with worse odds for next year.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are probably going to have a decent year next year but a lot of that depends on how Jimmy G plays.

They have some nice talent around him but they need him to be healthy and play well if they want the team to take that next step forward it’s going to come down to his play. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to throw a couple of bucks each on those futures, especially if you think that Jimmy G is the answer.
