Last season’s first ever F1 Miami Grand Prix proved a real success as the track right outside Hard Rock Stadium attracted some huge stars from the sporting world as well as non-sporting celebrities as well as a huge crowd at the track. Max Verstappen won the 2022 race for Red Bull on his way to taking the world title and he is leading the way again this year but Sunday’s race should provide plenty of entertainment at a challenging track.

When is the 2023 Miami Grand Prix?

The 2023 Miami Grand Prix will be run on Sunday, May 6 at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida. It is the second time the event has been staged and the first of 3 races in the United States this season, with the United States Grand Prix to be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on October 22 and a new event in Las Vegas set to take place on November 18.

What time does the Miami Grand Prix start?

The 2023 Miami Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 3:30 pm ET on Sunday. It will be the 5th of 23 races in the 2023 F1 season.

Previous Miami Grand Prix results

The 2022 race at Miami Gardens was the first Miami Grand Prix and it was won from 3rd place on the starting grid by Max Verstappen, who went on to win the world championship. Ferrari had taken both spots on the front row of the grid in qualifying, with Charles Leclerc from Monaco on pole and Spain’s Carlos Sainz in 2nd place, but they finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the race after the Dutch driver made his way into the lead by lap 9 of the 57-lap race.

Hot favorite Max Verstappen leads the F1 standings again after the first 4 races of the season, but he is only 6 points ahead of his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. They have 2 race wins each, with Verstappen coming out on top in Bahrain and Australia, while the Mexican won in Saudi Arabia and in Azerbaijan last week. Verstappen has 93 points after 4 races, with Perez on 87. Veteran former 2-time champion Fernando Alonso is 3rd with 60 points after moving to the improving Aston Martin team this season, with 7-time champ Lewis Hamilton 4th on 48 points for Mercedes.
