Ladies and gentlemen, college football is back!

Week 1 has already got underway with a bunch of games on Thursday and Friday, but we have the classic HUGE slate of games on Saturday to sink our teeth into. While Pickswise is the home of free NCAAF picks, we love to give your users the opportunity to be handicappers too. That’s where our brand-new feature Call It comes in. Call It lets our users pick which CFB team they’re riding on the spread for every single game. And given it can sometimes pay to follow the public money, we at Pickswise are here to call out the HOTTEST public teams for this Saturday’s NCAAF Week 1 slate.

Below you can find the 3 most-supported college football teams from Pickswise’s Call It tool, along with the percentage of users that had picked them at the time of publishing. Let’s dive into the CFB Week 1 consensus picks.

Michigan Wolverines -36 over East Carolina Pirates (-110)

86% of Pickswise users selected Michigan with Call It

Data correct at time of publishing on Friday, September 1 at 10:00 am ET.

Michigan was a force to be reckoned with in the 2022 season before unceremoniously falling to TCU in the College Football Playoff, but plenty of members of the Pickswise Nation are riding with the Wolverines to get off to a dominant start in 2023. Head coach Jim Harbaugh will be absent for this game as part of a 3-game suspension for violations around COVID-19, and although they lost a host of players to the draft the Wolverines should be able to reload this year behind quarterback J.J. McCarthy and running back Blake Corum.

East Carolina was solid on offense last season but absolutely woeful against the pass, and that could spell disaster here against McCarthy and company. Michigan could start this season with a bang and a dominant victory over the Pirates to cash some winning tickets for Pickswise users.

Wisconsin Badgers -27 over Buffalo Bulls (-110)

76% of Pickswise users selected Wisconsin with Call It

Data correct at time of publishing on Friday, September 1 at 10:00 am ET.

Wisconsin is another popular pick among Pickswise users, as they are showing faith in new head coach Luke Fickell as his era with the Badgers gets underway. With a promising lineup of coaches and SMU quarterback transfer Tanner Mordecai under center, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about Wisconsin. The Badgers return 8 starters from last season which should help them get off on the right foot, while Buffalo returns just 1 lineman that played more than 200 snaps and scored a rating above 70 in pass blocking with PFF. The Bulls could be in for a tough day as Wisconsin looks to prove that it is the real deal this season.

Ohio State Buckeyes -30 over Indiana Hoosiers (-110)

72% of Pickswise users selected Ohio State with Call It

Data correct at time of publishing on Friday, September 1 at 10:00 am ET.

Lastly, the Pickswise Nation is rolling with the Buckeyes as another consensus pick — with Ohio State -30 scoring 72% of the vote against the Hoosiers. Indiana had plenty of struggles last season as they went just 4-8 and lost a number of key pieces to the transfer portal. It is not yet confirmed who will be starting under center for the Hoosiers; Tayven Jackson is competing with Brendan Sorsby, while OSU is in the same boat with QBs Kyle McCord and Devin Brown expected to split snaps. However, Ohio State returns plenty of talent on defense and should have the tools to shut down Indiana. That seems to be the Pickswise Nation’s view, and a dominant 30-point victory for the Buckeyes looks to be the public pick for this matchup.
