We have a loaded 15-game slate of MLB action for Wednesday, August 27, and I’ve picked out my 2 best MLB player prop bets to target today. Let’s dive in and discuss, while you can also find out our MLB picks for EVERY GAME.

Best MLB player prop bet: Eric Lauer (TOR) under 2.5 earned runs allowed (-140)

Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -150 odds.

Eric Lauer didn’t pitch in the majors during the 2024 season, but he has been a very solid contributor for the Blue Jays in 2025. The southpaw hurler has found success both in the starting rotation and as a member of the bullpen, and his versatility should result in a large role come the postseason. Through his first 20 appearances this season, totaling 88 innings of work, Lauer has posted a 1.08 WHIP and a 2.76 ERA. His 3.37 xERA is a bit worse but still ranks as a 75th percentile mark in MLB this season. Lauer ranks in the 66th percentile or better in strikeout rate, walk rate and barrel rate as well in 2025.

On Wednesday, the Blue Jays pitcher is set to take on the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota traded away several key pieces of their roster during the trade deadline, and the result is a watered-down lineup. The Twins already struggled with left-handed pitching to begin the season, so on paper, this is a prime spot for Lauer to produce. With this prop, we benefit from backing a pitcher in good form while also attacking a lineup that is vulnerable. I look for Lauer to allow 2 or fewer earned runs in this matchup.

Best MLB player prop bet: Quinn Priester (MIL) under 2.5 earned runs allowed (-145)

Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -155 odds.

Quinn Priester has made 24 appearances as a Milwaukee Brewer this season, with 19 of those outings being starts. The right-hander will make his 20th start of the season this Wednesday as his Brewers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Priester has produced solid results for Milwaukee so far this season with a 3.44 ERA in his first 128.1 innings of work. He did allow 6 earned runs to the Mets in an outing earlier this month, but that was his only outing within his last 8 appearances where he allowed more than 2 earned runs. All in all, Priester enters this game in solid form, and I expect that to continue as the Brewers chug along towards the postseason.

Like the Twins, Arizona also sold several key pieces during the trade deadline, including multiple power sources from the heart of their lineup. With the Diamondbacks seeing a drop in talent level offensively, they have become more of a target than they were at the beginning of the season. While still a unit capable of doing damage, Priester’s current form gives me faith that he can contain this lineup.
