We have a full 15-game slate of MLB action scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, but my focus is on the Reds vs Cardinals matchup. From a player prop betting perspective there are a pair of valuable-looking bets worth making, and I will discuss those plays in the article below. Let’s dive into my best MLB player prop bets for today, while you can also check out our MLB picks for EVERY MATCHUP today.

Best MLB player prop bet: Brady Singer (CIN) over 17.5 outs recorded (-130)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -140 odds.

Brady Singer allowed 7 earned runs to the Washington Nationals on July 21, bringing his ERA to 4.84 at that point in the season. Singer has made 9 starts since that point, with 8 of them being very strong outings. Overall, in that 9 start stretch the right-hander has allowed just 13 earned runs across 53 innings of work. Not only has he shown improved run-prevention measures, but his ability to work deep into games has also been on full display. Singer has recorded 18 or more outs in 8 of those last 9 starts including 7.1 innings of work against Tampa Bay.

On the season the right-hander has recorded over 17.5 outs in 55% of his starts. This has been the case in 9 of his last 11 trips to the mound, however, and with the season coming to an end it appears that the Reds are content with his long leash. The Cardinals offense has been an inconsistent unit this season, and Singer did just deliver a quality start against them with 6 innings of 3-run ball. While Singer has performed better in his home park this season, I still see value on this prop.

Best MLB player prop bet: Andre Pallante (STL) over 1.5 walks issued (-140)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to -15o odds.

We are staying in the same game for our 2nd prop bet but flipping sides and attacking the other starting pitcher in this game. Andre Pallante is scheduled to make his 30th start of the season Wednesday. His first 29 starts resulted in multiple walks issued in 18 of those outings. This includes 3 or more walks issued in 5 of his last 8 starts with 4 allowed in 2 of his last 3 starts. On the season Pallante has tossed 155 innings with 57 walks issued. His command of the zone is not only inconsistent, but when he loses command, it really seems to spiral out of control.

Pallante generates swings on pitches outside the zone at an 18th percentile clip, and the Reds have largely shown quality plate discipline this season. Like Singer, Pallante also just faced this opposing lineup, but his start featured 5 runs allowed, and more importantly, four walks allowed in 5 innings pitched. Look for the Cardinals starter to clear his walks prop once again on Wednesday.
