Friday the 13th doesn’t always have to be an unlucky day. In fact, it’s just the opposite in the world of basketball as we get to enjoy another 8-game slate in the NBA this evening. Prime Video will have a double-header as well, featuring a clash between the Cavaliers and Mavericks, as well as an encounter between the T’Wolves and Warriors.
The action begins as early as 7.30 pm ET, I’ve gone in-depth with all 8 games and have come up with my own NBA Best Bets which you can see below. Odds are courtesy of FanDuel, don’t forget to go over our NBA Picks before placing your bets today. Let’s get into my selections now!
Knicks vs Pacers Best Bet: Knicks -13.5 (-106)
Indiana playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back with four starters officially ruled out. New York just dominated the Jazz by double-digits the other day, they’ve also covered in 6 of 8 games overall. Complacency shouldn’t be an issue here given the Pacers actually beat them at MSG earlier this season.
Grizzlies vs Pistons Best Bet: Isaiah Stewart Over 4.5 Rebounds (-162)
He is more rested than everyone else having taken some time off during that suspension he got for participating in the brawl vs Charlotte. Memphis is playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here, they allow the 4th most rebounds to opposing Cs this season. Look for Stewart to bully his way on the inside.
Suns vs Raptors Best Bet: Grayson Allen Over 14.5 Points (-104)
Devin Booker spent a lot of energy carrying the Suns offense last night with 43 points in the win over Indiana. He can’t do it alone on back-to-back nights, so I think Allen steps up here. He’s cleared this line 7 times in 10 games, the Raptors have issues defending opposing shooting guards this year. They allow the 10th most points in the NBA to this position.
Cavaliers vs Mavericks Best Bet: Cavaliers -13 (-110)
Cleveland has won the last 6 meetings; they’ll be playing a Mavs team that’s on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here. In this scenario Dallas has lost 3 games in a row, with the last two being by double-digits. Cooper Flagg just hasn’t looked the same since his injury, without a big time performance from him I don’t think the Mavs can keep up here.
Pelicans vs Rockets Best Bet: Pelicans +7 (-110)
I was really disappointed with the effort of the Rockets in their loss to Denver the other day. New Orleans is one of the more in-form teams in the league right now – they’ve won 7 of 10 games, while ranking 7th best in offensive efficiency. I have them keeping things close here.
Jazz vs Trail Blazers Best Bet: Jrue Holiday Over 17.5 Points (+100)
Odds on this bet are just too good to pass up. Holiday has cleared this line 7 times in 10 games, but most importantly he’s averaging 29 points per game in two meetings with Utah this season. The Jazz also allow the most points this season as a team and also rank 1st for points allowed to opposing PGs.
Timberwolves vs Warriors Best Bet: Timberwolves -6 (-106)
Minnesota hasn’t impressed with 3 straight losses, but the Warriors are in even worse shape than they are right now. The last 7 meetings have seen 6 wins for Ant Man and co., they’ve also gone 7-1 SU in 8 visits to Chase Center.
Bulls vs Clippers Best Bet: Kawhi Leonard Over 29.5 Points (-118)
It’s really hard not to bet on Kawhi here. He might be playing the best basketball since becoming a Clipper, we just saw him destroy the Timberwolves with a 45 point game. He’s scored 30 in 2 of his last 4 games, surely he can do it again vs a Bulls team that ranks 6th for points allowed this season and 5th for points allowed to opposing small forwards.
