Best NBA Bets Today: Odds & Picks for every game on Sunday, February 22

Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. With a total of four nationally televised games, Sunday is shaping up to be one of the bigger regular season days in the NBA this year. On the same day we have the Cavaliers vs Thunder (1 pm ET on ABC), Nuggets vs Warriors (3.30 pm ET on ABC), Celtics vs Lakers (6.30 pm ET on NBC) and Magic vs Clippers (9 pm ET on NBA TV) going at it.

I’ve analyzed all 11 match-ups taking place and have come up with an NBA Best Bet for every single game. Odds are courtesy of FanDuel, we’ll have NBA Picks for Sunday’s slate on our website, but let’s focus on my bets for now.

Cavaliers vs Thunder Best Bet: Cavaliers -3.5 (-108)

The Cavs are yet to lose with James Harden on board, Sunday’s game against the defending champs is the perfect opportunity for them to send out a message that they mean business. OKC is missing Caruso, Mitchell, SGA and Jalen Williams.

Nuggets vs Warriors Best Bet: Nuggets -5.5 (-110)

No Steph, Porzingis and Jimmy for the Warriors, while the Nuggets have a healthy Nikola Jokic. Denver just put up 157 past the Trail Blazers, I do not anticipate them having any major issues in Sunday’s game against the Warriors.

Nets vs Hawks Best Bet: Onyeka Okongwu 2+ Made Threes (-152)

Okongwu has cleared this line in 62% of games this season (32/52). The Nets have been very bad defensively this year, they rank 29th in opponent three-point percentage allowing 37.4% of shots from distance to go in. That number jumps up to 38.8% in their road games.

Raptors vs Bucks Best Bet: Myles Turner 2+ Made Threes (-198)

Turner is one of the better shooting big men in our game. He’s made a pair of threes in 33 of 50 games this season which comes out to a success rate of 66%. The last time he faced the Raptors he knocked down 4 of them, only once in 5 meetings he’s failed to clear this line.

Mavericks vs Pacers Best Bet: Pacers +2 (-112)

Neither side is looking to win at the moment, but at least the Pacers will have Pascal Siakam at their disposal. They’ve won 4 of the last 5 meetings, Dallas has made under 10 threes in 3 consecutive games overall and that’s where the advantage lies for Indiana here.

Hornets vs Wizards Best Bet: Over 227.5 (-106)

The last 10 meetings have averaged 231.6 points. Washington has cashed on the over 5 times in their last 7 games vs Eastern Conference opponents, we just saw them put up 131 past the Pacers with only 6 threes made. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a high scoring game from the Hornets, Sunday is the perfect opportunity for them to score a bunch of points.

Celtics vs Lakers Best Bet: Celtics ML (-126)

The Lakers might have their big 3 finally playing together, but Boston is the more consistent team. They dominated the first meeting at home, Jaylen Brown is playing at an MVP level and I just feel more comfortable backing them here.

76ers vs Timberwolves Best Bet: Donte DiVincenzo Over 10.5 Points (-102)

Opposing back court players rejoice whenever they see the Philadelphia 76ers on their schedule. Philly ranks 3rd for points allowed to opposing SGs this season, I expect DiVincenzo to take full advantage of that here. He’s cleared this line in 41 of 57 games, which is a success rate of 72%.

Knicks vs Bulls Best Bet: Bulls +10.5 (-108)

Just because the Knicks are playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here, I have Chicago covering the spread. These two have a habit of playing close games, the season series is currently tied at 1-1. New York’s three-ball has seen a drop-off in their 2 games after the break, with just 10 and 8 scored. The Bulls have covered in 5 of 6 meetings.

Trail Blazers vs Suns Best Bet: Trail Blazers -3.5 (-198)

Phoenix just lost Dillon Brooks to a hand injury, he joins Devin Booker on the sidelines. Those two not playing is a massive handicap for the Suns here, Portland should recover after that tough home loss against the Nuggets. They’ve covered in 5 of 7 meetings with the Suns.

Magic vs Clippers Best Bet: Bennedict Mathurin 2+ Made Threes (-122)

If Kawhi is out then Mathurin automatically becomes the number one scoring option for the Clippers. He’s been an instant hit with his new team, averaging over 20 points in the first 3 games. For the season he’s cleared this line in 20 of 32 games played, we are getting really solid odds for a bet that cashes 63% of the time.
