Best NBA Bets Today: Odds & Picks for every game on Sunday, January 4

Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. Yet another week draws to a close in the NBA as this Sunday sees a total of 16 teams in action across both Conferences. An early tip at 2 pm ET gets us going as the East leading Pistons take on the underperforming Cavaliers. The excitement doesn’t stop there, later in the day we have the Thunder taking on the Suns and a rematch of Friday’s affair between the Grizzlies and Lakers.

I’ve gone in-depth with all 8 games and have prepared a Best Bet pick for every single match-up, ranging from Spread picks, to Total selections as well as individual prop bets. We got you covered with NBA Picks throughout the NBA season, so let’s see what I fancy today!

Pistons vs Cavaliers Best Bet: Pistons +5 (-110)

The best team in the East with a healthy Cade Cunningham as a 5-point dog? Yes, please. The Cavaliers have been far too inconsistent this season, I cannot trust them to do well against the Pistons here.

Pacers vs Magic Best Bet: Pacers +6.5 (-110)

Only 2 points separated the two teams in the last meeting just 4 days ago, although they’re derailed by injuries I still feel like the Pacers can keep Sunday’s game close as well. They’ve covered in 14 of 19 visits to Orlando, so let’s bank on that trend to continue in this one.

Nuggets vs Nets Best Bet: Under 220.5 Points (-112)

Denver is missing 90+ points per game in injuries at the moment, playing a Nets team that’s been tough to score on in the last 15 games or so. Don’t expect a lot of quality possessions in this one.

Pelicans vs Heat Best Bet: Zion Williamson Over 5.5 Rebounds (-138)

Zion should thrive in a high paced game here. He has cleared this line in 12 of 20 games this season (60%), the Heat allow the 4th most rebounds this year and rank 7th for rebounds allowed to opposing power forwards.

Timberwolves vs Wizards Best Bet: Wizards +10 (-110)

Washington is a solid 4-1 ATS and straight up in their last 5 games, taking a Minnesota team playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back. The Wizards also hold a solid 11-1 ATS record in 12 meetings with the Timberwolves, so I have them covering as double-digit home underdogs here.

Thunder vs Suns Best Bet: Thunder -8.5 (-125)

The beast has been awaken after those back-to-back losses to San Antonio. Since then OKC has won by 25, 11, 29 and 37 points in their next 4 games. The Suns have been solid at home this season, but not good enough to match-up with the defending champs.

Bucks vs Kings Best Bet: Over 228.5 Points (-172)

The 10 most recent meetings have seen more than 250 points per game on average, only two times in 20 games head-to-head has this bet failed to cash. I am all over the points in this one.

Grizzlies vs Lakers Best Bet: Over 238.5 (-114)

We just saw these two teams play on Friday with the Lakers winning 128-121. Not much has changed in 48 hours since then, so we can expect a similar outcome on Sunday. The Lakers have only the 25th ranked defense in terms of efficiency this season.
