Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves
Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. Most of the attention might on March Madness right now, but that doesn’t mean we should disregard what’s going on in the NBA. Sunday brings us a tasty 5-game slate and a pair of TV games worth watching. Portland and Denver get us going at 5 pm ET, live on NBA TV. At 8 pm ET we have a big clash in Boston between the Celtics and Timberwolves, you can catch that one on NBC.

I’ve compiled my NBA Best Bets for every single match-up taking place this Sunday, you can find them below. Odds are courtesy of FanDuel, we also have in-depth NBA Picks for all the games on our website. Let’s go over my selections now!

Trail Blazers vs Nuggets Best Bet: Nuggets -9 (-106)

On paper this is a match-up that should be dominated by the Nuggets. They dropped 157 points on the Blazers the last time these two met, they probably won’t reach that number on Sunday but I still expect a dominant performance. They’ve beaten the Trail Blazers at home in 10 straight meetings, plus they’re a convincing 11-5 ATS in 16 games vs Northwest Division opponents.

Nets vs Kings Best Bet: Under 218.5 Points (-110)

The Nets are on a historically poor run on offense, failing to crack the 100 point mark in 5 consecutive games. That’s a feat you don’t see very often these days in the NBA, even against the lowly Kings I cannot see them doing well on that end of the floor. Sacramento will be without the engine of its offense as well, with Russell Westbrook missing this game so it’s quite obvious that we are headed towards a low scoring game here. The under has cashed in 6 of 10 meetings, including 4 of the last 5 between the two sides.

Wizards vs Knicks Best Bet: Mitchell Robinson Over 5.5 Points (-130)

Washington has been a disaster down low. They’re allowing 66 points per game from inside the paint in their last 3 outings, so even Mitchell Robinson should have a field day scoring the ball here. Scoring isn’t atop of the list of priorities for the Knicks big man, but he’s still averaging 6.5 points per game in his last 8 outings while shooting over 73% from the field. Let’s hope the Knicks feed him the ball early and often here.

Timberwolves vs Celtics Best Bet: Timberwolves +9.5 (-110)

Minnesota won the first meeting by 4 points back in late November. A lot has changed since, but I still like their chances of keeping things somewhat close here. Boston could be without Jaylen Brown, that might disrupt them a bit. The last 6 meetings between the two sides have been decided by single digits, plus the Celtics have covered only twice in 6 games overall and are 17-17 ATS in 34 home games this season. I’ll take my chances with Minnesota here.

Raptors vs Suns Best Bet: Raptors -2 (-112)

The Suns are a hot mess right now. They just lost their 5th game in a row last night which means they’ll be playing on a 2nd night of a back-to-back here. Far from ideal against one of the more consistent road teams in the league. In 34 away games the Raptors are 20-14 ATS/SU, they come into this one having covered in 4 of 5 overall, plus against the Suns they are 4-1 ATS in 5 meetings as well. Phoenix is very unreliable at home at the moment – they’ve covered just twice in 9 games. Until the likes of Mark Williams and Dillon Brooks return I am staying away from them. Give me the Raptors here.
