Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. Sunday brings us another exciting 8-game slate in the NBA, with an early tip in Oklahoma City. I’ve analyzed all 8 games so you don’t have to and I’ve come up with my favorite bet for every single one of them. Odds and lines are courtesy of FanDuel, be sure to check our NBA Picks for in-depth coverage on every single game. Let’s reveal my bets now!

Pelicans vs Thunder: Thunder -12.5

Anything other than a blowout win for OKC would be a surprise here. The Pels rank bottom in most meaningful stats so far this season, they are yet to win a game in 5 attempts. Thunder are unbeaten in 6, they just blew out the Wizards by 19 points at home.

Grizzlies vs Raptors: Raptors -5.5

Memphis just suspended Ja Morant for a game, they’ll be severely handicapped without him on the road in Toronto. Raptors are still looking for their first home win, this is the ideal opportunity to get it. Memphis is just 1-5 ATS in 6 road games.

Hawks vs Cavaliers: Hawks +6.5

Atlanta is a team that always plays with a chip on its shoulder when facing adversity. No Trae Young and playing on the road will certainly be a unpleasant scenario here. The Hawks have delivered 5 wins in 7 road games, while the Cavs have failed to cover in 6 straight at the Rocket Arena.

Jazz vs Hornets: Jazz +3.5

Charlotte is really struggling to defend the perimeter right now. That’s worrying going into a game against a player like Lauri Markkanen. The Jazz have won 11 of 15 meetings, I feel good backing them on the road here.

76ers vs Nets: 76ers -5.5

Philly looks to bounce back following a 1-point loss to Boston, they face a winless Nets team that is really struggling right now. Even without Joel Embiid, the 76ers should have their way here.

Bulls vs Knicks: Bulls +7

Chicago has shown a lot of grit and team play over the first 5 games. When you have 6 players averaging double figures, chances of all 6 of them having poor shooting nights are slim. I’m not sure if their win streak will continue here, but I like the Bulls to keep this somewhat close.

Spurs vs Suns: Spurs -6.5

How does Phoenix handle Wembanyama? They don’t. San Antonio is off to its best start in franchise history, Wemby is an MVP candidate. Give me the Spurs on the road here.

Heat vs Lakers: Over 236.5

Neither team has shown any desire to compete on the defensive end so far. Miami tops the NBA in pace averaging 108.4 possessions per game. With these two teams ranking 2nd and 9th in true shooting percentage, there’s a good chance they surpass the projected total here.
