Best NBA Bets Today: Odds & Picks for every game on Wednesday, January 28

Long-time NBA fan, following the game closely for 21 years now. Joined the Pickswise writing staff for the 2020-21 season and have given out winning picks since. Hopefully we can make some money together! Oh, and I firmly believe Lebron James is not one of the two best basketball players of all time. Yeah, I said it. Even the poor weather cannot slow down the NBA as the action continues on Wednesday with a 9-game slate and an ESPN doubleheader. LeBron James makes his long awaited return to Cleveland to face his old Cavs team. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm ET, and that is followed by a big clash out West between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets at 9:30 pm ET. After doing a thorough analysis of all 9 games, I’ve come up with my NBA best bets for every single matchup. You can also get our expert NBA picks for every game throughout the season, but for now, let’s lock in on all of tonight’s action!

Lakers vs Cavaliers NBA best bet: LeBron James over 5.5 Assists (-154)

LeBron has cleared this line in 7 of 10 games. He’s been very consistent with his assists this year, collecting 6 of them in 19 of 28 games which is a success rate of 68%. You just know he will want to excel with his play against the team that drafted him into the NBA 23 years ago.

Bulls vs Pacers NBA best bet: Bulls -2.5 (-106)

The Bulls are back to being a .500 team following their 4-game win streak which came to an end against the Lakers the other day. Revenge will be on their minds facing this Pacers team that has already beaten them twice this season. No way the Bulls lose a 3rd straight game to one of the most injured teams in the league.

Hawks vs Celtics NBA best bet: Hawks +6.5 (-106)

Atlanta has impressed defending the perimeter during their current 3-game win streak. In order to beat the Celtics you have to contain their three-point shot, the first meeting saw Boston connect on 22 threes and run away with the win. I expect the Hawks to be smarter this time around.

Magic vs Heat NBA best bet: Anthony Black 2+ threes made (-158)

Backing Black to make multiple threes has returned a profit in 14 of his last 20 games (70%). He faces a Miami Heat team that ranks 2nd for threes allowed to opposing point guards this season, he’s scored in double-figures in 3 of the last 4 meetings with them.

Knicks vs Raptors NBA best bet: Knicks +2 (-110)

New York has dominated both meetings earlier in the season, winning by double-digits. They face a Raptors team that’s coming back home from a long West coast road trip, they might be a step slow on defense in their first game back. The Knicks have 3 wins on the bounce, recording the best defensive numbers in the NBA during this stretch.

Hornets vs Grizzlies NBA best bet: Hornets -2 (-112)

Charlotte is one of the more fun teams to watch in the NBA this season. Despite being 9 games under .500 they have a positive Net Rating which is truly remarkable. Against the lowly Grizzlies I have them winning on the road, Memphis has dropped 3 in a row and 4 of 5, plus they’re currently playing without Ja Morant.

Timberwolves vs Mavericks NBA best bet: PJ Washington over 5.5 rebounds (-130)

Washington has been one of the more consistent players for Dallas this season, grabbing 6 rebounds in 14 of his last 20 games which comes out to a success rate of 70%. He’s cleared this line in 7 of 9 games vs Rudy Gobert, if we look at the entire year he’s done it 24 times in 33 games played (73%).

Warriors vs Jazz NBA best bet: Stephen Curry over 4.5 threes (-144)

Curry’s offensive responsibilities have increased a lot since the injury to Jimmy Butler. He’s drained 5 threes in 8 of 13 meetings vs the Jazz, while on the road he’s done it in 8 of 17 games played this year. Utah ranks 1st for threes allowed to opposing PGs and 1st for threes allowed overall as a team.

Spurs vs Rockets NBA best bet: Devin Vassell over 2.5 rebounds (+102)

Backing Vassell to clear his rebounding line has been one of the more profitable bets this season. It has returned a profit in all but 5 of the 34 games he’s played in which is an unreal success rate of 85%. These odds are just too big for me to pass up on a bet like this, even against the Houston Rockets.
