Best player props for Sunday's NHL slate: Patrick Kane looking to carry Blackhawks

Feb 11, 2021; Chicago, Illinois, USA; Chicago Blackhawks right wing Patrick Kane (88) celebrates his goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets during the third period at United Center.

There are 5 games on Sunday’s NHL slate, and we’re going to take a deeper dive into 2 of the matchups and choose the player props we think will provide good value and have a great chance of hitting. The games are starting at 6pm ET and the final game of the night starts at 9pm ET. Chandler Stephenson of the Golden Knights will look to continue leading the way for his team, while Patrick Kane looks to drag his team out of the awful slump they’re in with his offensive abilities.

Chandler Stephenson over 0.5 points (-125)

Chandler Stephenson is one of the many unknown names in the league, but he’s currently operating at a point per game for the Golden Knights with 10 in 10. With Mark Stone and Max Pacioretty, his two linemates, missing from the lineup, Stephenson hasn’t missed a beat. He’s coming off a 2-point performance last night and considering this is the tail end of a back-to-back for both these teams, there could be some sloppy hockey and more penalties, which could lead to goals. He has 3 points in his last 2 games and will be looking to extend his point streak to 3 games.

The Red Wings are allowing the 4th-most goals in the NHL with 3.55 goals per game. The majority of Vegas’ offense comes from their first line, expect Stephenson to be on the ice for a lot of chances tonight. Take Stephenson to record a point. The odds are great for a point-per-game player.

Patrick Kane over 3.5 shots (-105)

Patrick Kane seems to be the heartbeat for the Blackhawks organization. He’s the only player operating at more than a point per game and he’s averaging close to 5 minutes a night on the powerplay. He’s been averaging more than 5 shots per game in his 8 games played this season, so this line is seriously underrating the player that Kane is. A mark of 3.5 shots seem pretty low for his talents and his current resume. In 4 of his last 5 games, he’s had 4 or more shots, and on 3 occasions he had 6 or more. He recognizes the lack of offense on his team and has decided to be the top option for scoring. With a new interim head coach behind the bench tonight, he may elect to play his best players more than they have this season. This should mean more chances for Kane, which should translate to more shots on goal. Take him to get 3.5 shots tonight.
